gear driven timing chain set?

gear driven timing chain set? ok so heres the deal...i cannot find ANYONE that offers one of these just for the lt1...now one of my friends has a set that did not say was made for an lt1 it was made just for a sbc and his car started and runs perfectly...im wondering if i should get it or not..wondering if it could have any other effects eventually because it wasnt made for the car...

I looked for something on this order like a Pete Jackson gear drive but I also did not find any for the LT1 application. Is he ruuning a electic water pump? Not sure how this would work with out the drive gear for the water pump.

ok so i finnaly got ahold of him...it is the pete jackson gear drive set out of the summit magazine...it even says chevy, 305/350, with factory roller cam(except 1992-up LT1) but yet my friend has it on his car and it is driving around right now????????? it says on top will not work on computer controlled vehicles with knock sensors...maybe if you had the lt4 or something of the sort you could use it...and for the question about the water pump drive...you dont hav ea gear so you have to fill the hole on your timing cover

it says it wont work with the LT1s due to the knock sensor, those drives are loud and it will be 'viewed' as knock and pull timing, this can be corrected in the tune if you want to go that route. But they do not sale one for the LT1 b/c of the KS. Others will fit if running a EWP and do the PCM right and clearance the cover.

Well, it all depends on what you want. Do you still want the function of the KS's? If so then you are going to have to work on their attack and recover in the tables.
If you do not care then turn the KSs off but I do not usually recommend that on a DD, I do it on all of the 'race' cars but that is up to you.
I do not know how 'loud' these things are but my guess is that it would be hell on the KS and therefore alot of work on the tuner to get the KS stuff done.

arent those gears really thick though? Might not let enough of the cam pin stick through to engage the opti. I know that they make them for the TPI motors that were pre-lt1.

My thoughts are why put one of these in the car when there are other options that work just as well with less problems.

Why do You even want a gear drive set up? Just for noise? Those things are really hard on the cam bearings because the harmonics from the crank travel up and put more load on the bearings.
