You can't run just one bank. Also Frost runs a crossover setup, so all 8 cylinders feed the turbo.

o okay. As far as custom manifolds go can i use LOG type manifold and just run all of the exhaust ports into a "barrel" shape and out to a turbo flange

Yes that can be done, get the book Maximum Boost by corkey bell and you can read about the cons of that design, or use the search button. But it will work.

I would recomend making a cross over pipe that uses OEM manifolds and brings all the exhaust gas forward to a turbo.

I assume this isnt an LS1 you refer to ?

I thought Saab developed a single turbo V6 a few years back, that only used one bank to feed the turbo. ??

Websearch doesnt reveal much on it, but seems to be circa 2001, Saab 9-5 3.0 V6

Quote taken from this website. ( seems to be some dodgy pop-ups when you go there )
http://www.autospectator.com/modules...p?storyid=1192

"1995

Saab announces the world's first asymmetrically-turbocharged engine. The turbo is fitted only to the front cylinder bank of a transversely-installed 3.0-liter V6, but delivers its charge to both. The light-pressure turbocharger is extremely small and integrated in the exhaust manifold for efficient packaging. It delivers 30 per cent more torque, which allows high gearing for reduced fuel consumption together with impressive pulling power."

theres no reason it wouldn't work but i can't imagine how mismatched the cylinder pressures would be bank to bank... not good for the crankshaft. Saab gets away with it being a low hp low boost application..

Even if you said screw the crankshaft, you would still need individual cylinder fuel and timing control to make up for the substantial volumetric efficiency difference between the na and turbo-choked cylinders.

But depending on camshaft, and boost pressure etc used, differences may not be substantial at all, which is what I suspect is the case with the Saab engine.

In the very same way the STS turbo system is quite flawed and far from ideal, so would using only 1 bank to spool the turbo...

Doesnt mean it wont work to a degree.

I will take an sts over a one-bank fed front mount all day, every day. On the one hand you have slight inefficiencies, and on the other hand you have gross imbalance of crankshaft loads, fuel mix, etc.
