gas mileage.....a4 vs. m6
still havent decided if i want to go with an a4 or m6 ls1. everyone i know tells me to go with the m6 (especially my three m6 ls1 friends), but i think id rather have the a4 with stall/gears/shift kit. I drive alot (close to 70 miles a day) and i was wondering how much of a difference in gas mileage an a4 gets compared to an m6. I have a 96 gt 5 spd and i can get almost 30 mpg on the highway, which is what i do most of my driving on. Granted i do drive like a grandma, easy take offs, 2000-2500 rm shifts, and 5th gear w. cruise control @75. I would drive an a4 the same way ( easy on the gas pedal). I have been told that an m6 can get over 30 mpg highway, especially how i drive. Any tips guys?

With an a4, especially a stalled one, you're not going to get anywhere near the gas mileage an m6 car does. When my car was stock, I would get 22-23mpg at best on the highway (3.23 rear). My buddy bought his car at the same time as me, his is an m6 and he constantly got 6-7mpg better than me and we both had a pretty light foot. My car runs ~2300 rpm @ 70mph and his is ~1500rpm at the same speed. Now that we've both modded the **** out of our cars we get about the same.....~16mpg.

so what would you guys recommend. I have seen some sick times out of automatic cars. full exhaust, lid, a good stall, and tires can net low 12's! my friend has a mild modded m6 ss and he cant do better than a 14.0@105! a bone stock auto can do better than that!

You just need to decide how important mileage is to you and what your goals for the car are.
m6 car:
-better gas mileage
-faster in roll races
-fun to drive factor
-usually dyno higher
-your gonna break the rearend
stalled a4 car:
-sickening launches (w/good tires)
-less stress on rearend
-better suited to track duty, more consistent
-worse gas mileage
Obviously there's more and lot's of it is personal preference, but you get the idea.

On the highway with boltons whether you have a stall or not your MPG will be the same or better than stock, the converter locks up around 50 dependingn on the tune and after that its like stock. The bolt ons will help your car to breathe better causing it to work less increasing MPG, but in the city you'll se about 16 MPG. I average around 19-20 MPG 50/50 city and highway with a stall, cam, touched up heads, and bolt ons.
