Simple Green to clean engine bay?
Hey everyone, just a quick question. I was told I can use simple green to clean my engine bay? The shop said to cover the air filter and the electrical harnesses on the back upper portion of the engine bay, then I could just spray the engine down (while cold) and let it sit for a few mins then just spray it off with a hose. Is this the best method or is there a better way to get the engine clean? Thanks and any/all info would be appreciated!

A lot of people use simple green to clean engine bay. I use Castrol all purpose cleaner. I just spray my engine bay down with cleaner a cold engine, wait a few minutes, rinse off & blow the area dry with 200MPH "Electrical" leaf blower. I cover nothing up.

Simple Green works great for me. The dealer sprayed CD2 detailer all over my engine when I bought my SS. Took me weeks to get that dirt collecting junk off. I blow and wipe dry everything I can get to and leave it at that. When it gets dusty, I fire up my compressor and blow it away.

Simple green works well... any detergent as strong as simple green can cause some spotting/discoloration on bare polished aluminum, but it really isn't a big deal and isn't permanent. Rub some metal polish on and then rub it off if you even have any... I don't.
