Can anybody tell me why f-bodies are so expensive in Florida???? I live in celtral florida and my $10-11k search for a t/a is going nowhere. The only cars in that price range seem to have 90k miles plus. All i am looking for is a ~50k mile 6spd ls1. This sux!!!!

Try being in Cali. I'm in the market for another F-Body and they all try and bend you over out here.

Seems like the last few months they have been going up again. I know here in the DFW area about a yaer and a half ago they were around 8K for a 70,XXX LS1 Z...T/A's were a bit higher...but...this year is a whole other story.

Same cars and mileage are going for 10 and up.

Just goes to show....good taste needs to be taught to people...lol

I know what you mean. It seems like the only T/As I've found under 10K were about 130K miles. They weren't in that good condition either... There was this nice red one I saw that had about 70K miles on it for $12K, though. It was in nice shape, and was a 2001. They come and go, but you have to be fast... lol.

There are deals out there, but you just have to be on top of your game. When I was looking for a car, I was pretty much obsessed on that mission. Just make sure you buy what you want, even if it is a little more than you wanted to spend. At least that way you won't be disappointed.

I found mine at a subaru dealership last year around 10k and 44k miles... don't give up!

This year's prices seem to be on the up and up, dunno if people are anticipating getting a "fifth gen"...

yeah exactly, try finding one in MI for that price they want like 20k for one with 60k miles on it. u just need to search harder, its going to be less down here then most places cause there are so many of them, compared to midwest states like mentioned.

i use to live in MI.

I know what your going thru, I almost bought a 2000 T/A 6spd for 18K with 50k miles, but then I wasnt approved for that much. 2 months later I found my white T/A (2000) 6spd with MORE options than that other one for $13k w 26k miles. I did have to fly to St. Louis to get it, but it was Well worth it.

You think that's nuts, we're seeing late 4th gen f-body prices as high as 30K here (Toronto)...

With the CAD over 90 cents american... holy freaking shit that's one hell of a mark up...

Update!!!

I just looked at today's prices on autotrader.ca and some places are asking 40K now... WTF???

I spent 2 years looking and when I got mine back in sept, 30 k was the highest, but we're talking <10k mileage ss/ws6 cars...

Had a couple here (N. IN) in the paper yesterday, 98 and a 99, 60-80k miles, both at $8500. Didn't think that was too bad.

Along those lines, I wouldn't sell my '02 SS for less than $16k-$17k, just because I would need a replacement. I know the complete history of my car, and you can't really put a price on that. It seems like here in the DFW area, there are cars available, but not so many low-mileage clean cars. They are bringing good money.

Yeah, but look at what a LT1 TAs go for in not-great shape, around 18-23k euros here, and good shape ones like my go for 22-25k and more, so anywhere between $23,000 to $32,000 just for a mid 90s LT1.

I have been offered a serious 25,000 $ CASH for mine, and had other people ask if I want to sell....there are only about 3-4 WS6's in a 200 mile area around here...Last time I saw one was about 5 weeks ago..guy in his late 60's,early 70's, and he lives 2 miles away and hardly ever drives it..[ although mine has seen minimal rain,no snow, and very little cloud.] :jest:

i completely understand, i would be the same way, but what u want and what someone is actually willing to give u for your car are 2 diff. things.

...Yeah..but look where you live...on the same note..it's cheaper to buy a Mercedes in Germany say, than in North America also--makes sense. :judge: [ are there or were any cars ever made in Finland ?? ] [ SKODA ?? ]

Yeah, I know I live in Finland, but SladeX was talking about Canada so I thought Id chime in on Finland.

But as far as even other European cars here, Porsches still cost twice what they cost over there, same with most high end cars.

However my brother just bought a 3 Series BMW for about half of what they cost over there, he was planning on going to Germany to get one but he wouldnt have saved really anything, just possibly gotten a higher optioned car for the same price.

Saab used to be made in Finland, and I believe all of the Saabs which are sold in the US are still made here.

Porsche Boxsters are made here along with the new Cayman. I dont believe Skoda is made here, someone said where they were but I forget.

All of our F-bodies were made in Canada, but still they are more expensive there then in the states.

I think it's GREAT!! (I bought mine new).

Historically, they've had HORRIBLE resale.

Back in 2002, I had a friend with a 98 base Z28 auto wiht 40k that could only get $8k for it when he sold it.

I paid $24k for mine new, and could probably sell it for $18k or more now (4 and a half years later).

That's what happens when a performance car goes extinct.

Try finding an unmolested one out there. My son and I looked for 2+ months before we found a woman owned, 2nd owner 99 Z/28 200+ miles away. It had 97,xxx on it for $8,700. I get a kick at how LS1 verts are less expensive and seem less actractive in the marketplace. There were plenty of reasonably priced Z/28 verts out there during our search.

So you think because its CAD, it's not expensive...

As of today's exchange rate...
$40K CAD = $35,969.25 USD

KBB would have a 02 typical SS of the same mileage priced at $23,980...

With what some Texas cars go for, I could buy a low mileage LS1 + high mileage LS1 as a beater for the amount they want up here...

Were you referring to me? Because I didnt mean to give the impression that Canada prices werent expensive, just giving a idea of what they are here in Europe. And one thing to keep in mind is I am only speaking of LT1 vehicles, because no passenger vehicles newer than 1997 (built in 1997, so can be 1998 model) can be brought to Finland due to some BS which only has one exception and that is to bring it as a "moving" vehicle, meaning you have owned it for at least 6 months in the country you are moving from and you have to keep it for the next 2 years or so here without selling it.

The only 96 SS here is for sale for 37900 euros, so over $48000...

Now imagine the prices LS1 vehicles would be at.

I just find it ironic when people chime in that because its CAD, its automatically "inflated" due to exchange rate. Not picking on anyone in particular in this thread.

I also find it ironic that the car and engine and most of the parts are CANADIAN made YET when you price anything out from the whole damn car to a screw, it WILL cost anywhere from 50-200% more than if you hunted for it in the states...

WOW! I can totally realate. Being from Toronto, aswell, the prices are insane. A 98 with 89,000 kilometers on it and they want $19,000 :eyes: For that kind of cash, i'd rather buy an LS1 F-body in the states. Or better yet, buy a C5 for a couple extra grand.

I've seen some cars go for cheap, but others go for a lot. There are a TON of late model 200-2002 WS6 cars in the central florida area, I've seen dealers selling 20K mile 02 WS6 cars for the high teens.

you really need to look for the camaro's if you looking for cheap here, i've seen sub 100K 98 Z28's for $5500 recently.
