Expect the car to run rich after the LT's are installed. This'll impair, more or less, gains you can expect from the new headers. As for the O2 simms, they're there simply to trick the PCM into believing the rear O2's are still in place and kept it from turning on the CE light.

Mine also ran rich at WOT after the header install. I ended up having to make some minor base and WOT adjustments on my MAFT and that's about it. Seems to vary from car to car.
You will want the O2 simms if you aren't running cats or if your replacement cats are relocated too far back in the exhaust to properly heat up. Under these circumstance you will get an SES light, but it won't hurt anything. EDIT: the O2 simms will eliminate this SES light.

Would it be better to wait to install them until I get LS1edit or will the gains out weigh the affects of the rich? I don't have a MAFT & don't plan on getting one since I plan on buying Edit. I may not get O2 sims either unless I find them cheap 2nd hand somewhere. Thanks for the replies guys, your input is appreciated

Any problems or tuning after LT install I should be aware of?
I'm preparing to install my Jet Hot LT's & I was wondering what I should expect after the install. I think I've read about lean/rich conditions after installing. How bad is it? I won't have $ for LS1Edit for a little while. Am I going to have any problems that can't wait a few months other than the O2 code? Will O2 sims clear up that alone or will I need anything else?
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!

My LT install fried my plugs and my O2's. All had to be replaced. The LS1EDIT solved all the problems w/o that I would never do it again. The tuning is an absolute! Not to mention you p/u alot more power w/the tuning.

I drove my car for nearly 5 months without tuning or MAFT after the header install. ET's went from 12.0 to 11.9's, with a best of 11.84. I finally got tuning for another issue (Torque Management).
Tuning will help get every last HP out of the setup.. but it's not mandatory.

It's software that you use on a laptop to flash the computer on your car with different tuning. You can change all sorts of settings like your fuel trims, shift points (automatics), rev limiter, fan temp turn on, gear ratio for speedo calibration, etc., etc.

I drove my car for months with no tunning, and more and more months after I got a cam installed. Then I put down 420 to the ground after a year of no tuning.
There was no LS1Edit at the time I was "all-bolt ons", and when it did come out the 01-02's were last to be made.
The car will run rich, might fry some wires. But thats why you buy bigger wires. Perfect time to change out plugs and wires while the headers are off.
Marc, I have the Taylor Thunder Volt wires, they are 10.4mm. Costly but worth it.
o2 Sensors will go out sooner or later. Faster with these kinds of mods, but hey I'm still on my stock ones (knocking on wood). And I put 420 to the ground on stock tuning.
Just get the simms or LS1Edit Marc. Also I've heard you can't beat the stock exhaust gaskets, thats just what I've heard.
Your "air" tubes might be different, depends on what year the headers were made for. The 98-99's have air tubes are around a 90 degree angle, and the 00-02's are around a 45 degree angle. Either bend yours to fit or buy the 98-99' air tubes. And if they are 98-99' headers you'll need a block-off plate for the EGR tube off the headers.
Peace,
Craig.
