help, just changed plugs fri , studdering at low/high rpms
I just changed my plugs fri and it didnt start doing this untill today. In low rpms, like under 1800 or so,and in the higher rpms the car studders.tyed pushing in all the plug wires and they all seemed on there tight. I know i need to get the AIR tube gaskets on each side but I dont know if that would cause it or not? Does any body have any ideas? thanks for the help , justin

First step get the AIR gaskets cause that causes a vacuum leak and gives you the described problem. If you still get the stutter make sure all the plugs are still tightened because they can wiggle loose and cause that. Most likely its the AIR gaskets.

I'd better dollars to donuts (stole that quote from my old man) that it's a AIR gasket leak. Did you happen to remove the EGR tube from the intake valve? I removed that when I did my plugs. I bent the tube and it didn't seal properly upon reinstallation. The car would barely idle and it damned near fell flat on it's face. Your symtoms sound like a much more mild vaccuum leak. Check your AIR tube gaskets.

Hey can I play stupid for a moment?? I am about to change my plugs and what is this AIR gasket that you keep talking about? Is it something that has to do with changing the plugs?? Sorry I am not trying to steal your thread it just pretains to what I am about to do. Thanks for any help.

You take off the AIR tubes to give you better access to the plugs. There is a gasket that is basically a "one time use" gasket that needs to be replaced when you take these AIR tubes off. Make sure you clean both sides of the surface area before you put the new gaskets back on.

I got them from pontiac . They were only 1.17 a peice, and take about 5 min to put on . Just use a 10mm socket and a extension for the ratchet.
