Default Hooker catback sound (noise level mostly)

I have heard that Hooker catbacks are not very loud, but how loud is not very loud? How much louder are they than stock at start-up, idle, slow acceration, and hard acceleration? I like the sound of them a lot in these two videos, but I can't tell how loud they are. I don't want them to be too quiet, but I don't want them to be really loud either(accept under WOT hehe....)

These are the two videos I like the sound of a lot:

Thanks

(sorry for all the questions lately guys, and thanks for the answers, this is becoming a kinda hard decision for me, and I want to make sure i do it right the first time since I don't have the money to do it over later)

Personally I think that they sound great, but are too quiet for my likings. I prefer the true duals on my bigger cammed car and y-pipe and dynomax dumped on the nitrous car.

They aren't that loud compared to like loudmouth/borla, mine is mild cam/heads mac mids - ory - hooker catback.

I love my Hooker setup....ORY with LT and a 224 cam. Nice and throaty when cruising and loud enough at WOT. Also if I need to tone it down for the PO PO you can do it in a hurry with a M6.

Ok, so at those same times, startup, idle, low accel. and hard accel. how does it compare to the stock catback, the Magnaflow, and the TSP Rumbler? Those are basically my 3 options(the hooker being the 3rd, not the stock )

in my opinion dont get a hooker catback unless u gonna get long tubes and a ORY cause otherwise its not loud enough. I put it on with my long tubes so i cant tell u the difference compared to stock, but with LTs its sounds loud under heavy acceleration, slightly louder than stock under low acceleration, idle is stock sound, cold start it is a little louder than before.

well I noticed a bit of difference in the hooker and the stock set up at wot, but start up was about the same. Magnaflow is very good and has a nice sound. EPP a sponsor was running a special on these. TSP rumbler is loud, sounds good.

It all depends on what you want your car to be like. If you have plans on H/C then hooker or magnaflow would be the only ones I would go with.

I love the sound of my car now with the cam, but befoe it was a bit quiet for my likeing. I would only use a hooker or a magnaflow with a ls1 but that is my opinion. you could always put a electric cut out on if its not loud enough.

I liked the tone of the hooker with no cats and manifolds. With the h/c setup and long tubes it still isn't loud but it has a real sharp raspy sound to it now. It sounds pretty good but I'm contemplating true duals extended out the back now. I'm not sure though.

Speedmonster_185 I feel your pain. I've been trying to figure out which exhaust I should get for weeks. I've heard a couple people say, including black01_ws6 above, that if you do headers, heads and a cam that Magnaflow is your best option. Why is that? I had my mind set on a Borla, but now I hear that Magnaflows are better with a h/c. Should I stay away from Borla if I plan on doing h/c?

yes stay away from the borla if you are planning on going h/c you will get a ton of rasp. it will sound like ****. I got the hooker for the great price I got on it and it flows very well. look up EPP as they price match, and carry the magnaflow. the muffler in the magnaflow is one of the best on the market.

i LOVE the sound of LTs, ORY, and the Hooker catback. it's my favorite exhaust setup for the LS1 - and I've been through PLENTY of them.

if that sounds stock to you, seek help.

I love the way mine sounds. Coming from a Corsa muffler it's quieter inside the cabin and outside. Not too much though and it still screams at WOT! If I want loud I open the QTEC.

Does a Magnaflow sound alright though after LT's and an ORY? Maybe even after H/C some number of years down the road?

This is hooker LT y-pipe and cat-back. I wanted a quiet one, it's still pretty loud.
