Thumbs up Troy@ Discount Tire Direct

Hello all! My name is Troy and I will be helping Luke here at DTD with tech/application info in an effort to better serve everyone here on LS1tech. We are both very busy so, we're hoping that our combined efforts will cut down on response time for all of you. I will also be posting sales from time to time and will be happy to answer any questions about pricing. I can be contacted directly at ccalendo@discounttireco.com and Luke can be reached at sfragala@discounttireco.com. I look forward to helping out!

Unfortunately, Chris no longer works here at Discount Tire Direct. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask Luke or myself at any time. Thanks.

Default Question for the tire/rim professionals

Hi Troy,
I have a friend who has a 91 ZR1 and he wants to upgrade to 18 inch rims and has been told that the 18 X 11's won't fit in the back. No one can tell him why...is the offset that much different? would 10.5's work? Just tryin to help my buddy out...

Thanks!

That's a great question! Real ZR1s are hard to come by and most people don't know much about them. Fortunately, I have had some experience with the car and can hopefully be of some assistance. The ZR1 was actually a widened factory corvette. The rear axle was the same as the factory corvette but due to the widened body of the ZR1 a lower offset wheel was required to fill the wheel well and create a wider, more stable stance. The original ZR1 wheels were 17x11 in the rear with about a 36 offset. Therefor, an 18x11 wheel should be ok if you can find or have one built with a similar offset. If your freind needs more in depth information, a good company to contact would be Exotic Muscle (480-967-4222) in Phoenix, AZ. Ask for Trevor or Merle. They are both very knowledgable and are happy to answer questions. Hope this helps!
