Default True Dual Exhaust diameters

I have a 99 Trans Am, my only modification being my MAF screen removed (what's this? no pinging?). I'm about to get a true dual exuast system custom done on my car, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about the diamters of the pipes. I had originally planned on going with two 3 inch pipes, but after reading the mufflex 4 inch cat-back topic, I think I may need to reconsider. Would two 2.5 inch pipes be ideal? Does anyone have a similar setup?

why do you want true duals??? It will be loud and your car won't be that fast, at least not for how loud it is. But 2.5 will flow alot better for you.

2.5" is fine, and what I have on my car. See the links under our site in my sig for pics, etc. Under 'Performance' and 'F-body'.

It can be loud, but it will NOT be slow - as the times in my sig attest to. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I did 2.5" and ran pipes out under the rear-end and out the back.

Boo Yeah, the question is "why WOULDN'T you want true duel?"

Duel sounds so much better than the stupid y-pipe setup (and will build a few more HP if done right).

Thanks for the info Lane.
But I went to that site, there's no pics of your car that I could find. I did enjoy your music video, though.

Go with the 3". You will not loose any power, & it will compliment any mods that you plan to do in the future. The mufler that you pick will decide the sound levels that you get. I had the bullets, and now run the Edelbrock RPM mufler. I love the sound & if it ever gets to the point that I decide it's too loud, then I'll throw cats on it & go from there.

The 3" will make it harder to go out the back, but I did it, & so can you. By the way, I'm back to dumping before the axles. Saves weight. Good luck.
