I did a few searches and could not really find any info on this subject. If i wanted to install a set of headers myself, what would be the easiest to do? Which brand bolts right in with no bending or finesse? I dont care about haveing to get O2 sims. There are no emition control where i live. Also i want to do a true dual straight from these headers that i am installing myself. And to thorw a little more gas on the fire, i dont have a welder and i want to do it all on my own. (maybe with a little help from my brother)

What do you think guys. Price is a factor, cheaper the better. I was thinking of the macs.

Hooker LTs fit flawlessly! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I've done a few header installs, and the Hookers were the easiest. Look at about 12+ hours install time if this is your first header install.

I currently have Hooker LTs, ORY, and Cat-back, but am going with true duals (x-pipe) shortly. Just waiting on the rest of the kit.

it really depends on your setup. if you wanna go heads/cam later on, it might be smart to go with long tubes to maximize your setup. i just put on a set of macs. it was a lot easier than i had anticipated. where are you in florida? if NW area (p-cola), i'll help you with the install.

I say 12+ hours only if you've never done a headers install, and take it slow and steady. It took about that for my first one (with a helper), but the second time I did a Hooker LT install it only took 5 1/2 - 6 hours! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

As far as tools go, you'll need a metric sockets, both deep and shallow wells. Metric wrench set. Socket wrench extensions and a swivel works wonders in some places. Various other tools come in handy too, like flat head screw drivers and such. Anyway, those are the biggies.

12 hours???? I did my FLP's in 2 and that was the first time I had done it.

the QTPs slipped up and in very well and have no issues compared to the FLPs floorboard banging issues or clearance with the oil drain plug.
some of the Hooker's may have fitment issues depending on which you get, there seem to be inconsistencies in their production. Ive read in some cases the header will actually rub against a portion of the body to prematurely wear off its nice and new ceramic coating.

from start to finish taking off my stepped dynatechs, cutting off the welded y-pipe and then installing the QTPs with the mufflex offroad y, took us 4 hours. (granted there was 3 of us, and we have a private lift, air, and every tool you could ever want. best of luck. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

The Hooker's went in easy and I dropped 3 tenths, and gained 3mph.

lets say that i dont intend to do heads/cam...or at least not anytime in the near or even far away future...how about the macs? really easy going in? what do i need with them? does anyone have a install page that tells me exactly step by step what to do...

Macs are about on par with Hookers as far as ease of installation, IMO.

I live in California and have to worry about emissions. Are there any headers out there that can bolt up to the stock Y pipe and I can keep my cats? I don't want anything that I have to modify too much for. I would like something that I can just bolt on and stay smog legal. Any input is great.
