Default keep tearing exhaust gaskets?

so im about to remove the drivers side header for the third time... figured id do some research this time... questions-
1. why do they keep tearing?

2. who makes a good 1?

motor is an LT1 with Hedman headers in an 89 rx-7

I'd guess your header flanges are warped. Never had a problem with Mr. Gasket paper gaskets and my MAC headers. Check those flanges with a straight edge.

I have had great luck with Fel-pro and SLP. Like mentioned it sounds like the flange is not flat and so it keeps blowing out.

i have pacesetter headers and sce copper gaskets and i have reused them twice already and plan on reusing htem again when i get my motor built back up i tried the mr gaskets and they sucked a fat one..they blew the second day i had them and every time ive got them checked at a local machine shop for being warped

i used the thick paper ones in my pacesetter kit.

the trick is to keep retightening them like you're supposed too

I toss the crappy Paper gaskets when we install Pacesetters


LOL I just saw your sig. looks like DOM needs a leason or ten History can hurt ....especialy when your in it

I blew out the Felpro's 1406 so I went with the Percy carbon ones and no problems so far. The Felpro 1406 are for really large ports and leave very little material so only get them if you have ported heads.

I forgot to add Im using Breslin locking header bolts also. They make a big difference

Percy's dead soft aluminum have been working fine for me even with multiple header removals. (Same gaskets)
