SO who here runs a BIG cam on the street?
Not to diss ANY of you but, all i here about is the "small cams" you put in your street cars, and dont get me wrong you all make INCREDIBLE power on a cam only car with a small cam, but..coukld you run a streetable big cam car? i know SOMEONE on here has too. If you ran a smaller cam before hand and then switched to big...what was the diffrence like? Thanks

lol, i went from a 228 cammed 346 to a 267 cammed 408
Not much to say.. i drive it every chance i get. I am VERY used to it though. Sometimes, when i drive friend's stock ls1's, i wish i had a smaller cam. It gets annoying

Driveable?........Yes with good tune........Fun to Drive?........depends on person. I personally have drove some T-rex, MS3, and 240+ duration cams and hated them. If i was at the drag strip it probably would have been ok, But i drive my car 95% of the time and take it to the track 5%. I think smaller cams (220-230 range) provide good responsive power for daily driving and pull hard in lower and mid range. And look around PLENTY of 11 sec and faster LS1's with smaller cams. And no matter who tunes it, there will be issues in drivability...just part of the package that comes with huge cams. Look for a PACKAGE that makes Great power and keeps driving fun. Dont just go stick a huge *** cam in an attempt to make the most power possible..........BUT then again, Im biased and still believe people OVERCAM these stock headed stock cubed motors everyday. Good luck hope this may have helped.

depends on what you consider a BIG cam. i sort of daily drive a 233/239 everyday and wish i would have went bigger. i think when i do the m-6 conversion i'm gonna go T-Rex or a g5x4.

Cam only with bolt ons Lunati 236/236/ .580-112LSA just made 421 rwhp and 388 rwtq on a dyno yeaterday. Runs great.
There is a 'lil cam surge starting under 1500 rpm if you don't have the throttle at least cracked open slightly. (cam surge is when the car starts to buck back & forth. It cam be minor and then progress to major surge if you don't put in the clutch or crack the throttle open.) Otherwise it's a very well mannered cam and I'd install it again. ~Joshua
