For those of you running GC, how many miles do you go between oil changes?

I just changed mine back in March. It was over a year in the car but only 2500 miles or so. I sent it away to be tested and the results came back that it was nearly new oil. In every test it was well below the "norm" so I'm planning on running it for 2 years now which for me will be about 5000 miles.

I've been running mine for 7k. Reading the bobistheoilguy forums, there are people that run it for twice that.

My last interval in my car was 9000 miles, and in my wife's Honda it was 11,600 miles. GC handled it perfectly.

What about time? Isn't that as bad as milage? Say the car is driven only 5000mi a year, there is no way i would let oil go two years/

I'm changing the oil in my mom's car this morning, and I have not done it since July 2004! So it's been almost two full years on German Castrol 0w30. I will be sending off a sample to the lab when it's done, and I'm confident it'll come back showing that the oil was still in decent shape.

Does your oil change light come on during that period? If so, do you just reset it and keep going? Or do you obey the oil change light? Reason I ask is that I do a lot of city driving and mine will come on somewhere between 3000-5000k.

My oil life monitor usually hits zero by about 7000 miles. On that 9000 mile run I just reset it when it hit zero and kept going.

I got those results back and the lab said the oil was still suitable for continued use, even though it had been in her car for 7600 miles and two years! So GC can definitely handle two years worth of short trip driving! (we did add 2L of makeup oil during that time which did help a lot mind you, but even without that much makeup oil I'm sure GC would've still handled it)

Two ways:
1. put the keys in ON, but not running, and push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times, the light should blink indicating that its reset.
2. Hold down the trip odometer Reset for 10 seconds and the light should blink indicating that its reset.
