I have an LS7 clutch on my C6Z. And I don't recommend it to anyone.
It is heat intolerant, hanging the clutch pedal on a pristine launch >3800 rpm.
My C5Z LS6 clutch would handle 4600-5200 launch without complaint and not make the fragrant eau de clutch.
The LS7 pedal will hang and stink.
Now if you do no launches, then the LS7 clutch may be OK. If you do launch, stay away from the LS7 clutch.
Just a thought.

The LS6 clutch worked well and gave about 150-175 drag strip launches per clutch with launch rpm ranging from 3600-5200. Only about 20 of the launches were at 5200.
If you increase your rwhp or plan a lot of passes, I'd look at a Cartek clutch. Hundreds of them are taking tough love well at the drag strip without much issue.
If you go to a clutch with clamping power beyond stock, then you want to consider hardening the rear too while the drive train is apart for the clutch install.

Ranger - What you said matches an article I read last night perfectly. (and my personal experience with the LS6 clutch 421 rwhp)
I was just reading a drag test in the new GMHighTech mag on the new Zo6 and they said after the 2nd hot lap the clutch was done. They couldn't get more than 2 or 3 runs before parking it for an hour. And still they said it was no good even on the good passes.
My factory LS6 clutch has been flat out abused on the track and tons of mountain racing at 421 rwhp and it has been perfect for around 40k miles. It just gave me the 1st sign of it's mortallity last weekend.
I was thinking about getting an aluminum LS2 flywheel and the LS7 clutch, but after reading the magazine article and hearing what you said I don't think I'm going to go that route.
Screw SPEC also, I don't want to be in a wheelchair after the pressure plate explodes @ 5k rpm.

The LS7 clutch on the C6Z pales in comparison. I have not met a single C6Z06 owner who makes passes in his car that has anything but complaints about the clutch. It hangs the pedal on a pristine launch >3800 for goodness sake.
Juxtapose that with my club's last drag day when about 15 C5 Z06s with stock LS6 clutches were making passes on drag radials, many at launch rpms of 4000-5000 and not one had clutch issues.
I do not recommend the LS7 clutch to anyone that plans to make passes.
