Default Stage 2 neon str-4

How fast is a stage 2 neon srt-4...I think the car is an 04.

Anyway...I seen this car dust off a stock 03 gt 5 speed by probably 6-7 carlengths.

Now the kid wants to race me....I know my car is faster? but do I even have to worry? how much room for error do I have? If I miss a shift will I still be able to win? I sometimes miss shifts when I get nervous...so it is very possible.

thanks

Copied from sticky:
LS1Tech has one of the best, if not the best, street racing sections on
the 'net...and I'd like to keep it that way.

Stop bench racing. Get out there and have some fun by actually
racing someone. I know, it's a novel idea. Be safe and watch
out for the cops.

Please...don't post any more "what would happen" threads. The number
of them currently is getting close to out-weighing the actual kills.

Actually its faster than that. A stage 1 SRT-4 will run 13.3 with a good driver. Stage 1 entails a remapped ecu with advanced timing, full throttle shifting capability , and remapped fuel curves. Stage 2 is a new remap a wastegate actuator to avoid boost falling off at high rpm's, higher boos levels, usually 18 psi or so and a few other goodies. It is "capable" of mid 12's or so. There is one guy running 11.9 with a ported stock turbo. From a roll it will be closer than you think but you should rape him from a stop. My cousin has one. They are fast little **** boxes.

I know about the sticky...sorry I guess.

I was just wondering...and I did plenty of racing last year...and I dont think I will be doing much more of it...it isnt worth the risk.
So I just wanted to ask you guys about it so I knew what they were worth if I do in fact race him.

It would be close from a roll vs a ~430 rwhp (havent got it tuned yet) h/c ls1 stripper?

Whats close? I am guessing I would get him by at least 5 cars...even if they do run mid 12's...I would think my car is capable of at least solid 11's if it were set up for the strip. And from a roll...I can hook up halfway decent...I would rather do it from a roll than a stop actually.

It seemed faster than low 13's from the way it raped that 03 gt.
Anyone else know for sure?

That GT driver must not have been able to drive.... or the SRT-4s are really slow around here.

The stage 2 I've seen at the track ran a 14.0 at 100mph. Isn't stage 2 only like 30hp over stock? Stage 3 is 70hp over stock.

Shouldn't it take more than 30hp to go from a low 14 to a mid 12?

My buddie has one with stage 2 and has yet to get it tunned well see what he runs. dont under estimate the car IF he can it wili be very close prob by 1 to 2 car with you winning just dont miss a gear, you prob wont be able to make it up.

Just run 'em. Who cares if you lose. Those cars can run good with the proper driver/setup.

I want to find one of those new Impala or Monte Carlo SS's with the LS4 and run one, but I don't post up a "what if" thread to ask what results would be, just DO EEEEET!

Yeah, because you posted a "what if", you're obligated to follow-up.

No. I saw a stage 2 dyno 319 whp the other day. He ran a 12.34 on slicks. Considering it is fwd, I would assume he should be able to hang dead even with a 400 whp LS1 from a roll, since they weigh 2900 lbs. You can't go by E.T. and compare a LS1 car to a FWD turbo car.

The questions if you will win is yes, and it won't be close unless he is tuned. Then it should be 3-4 cars or so.

Damn the drivers around here must suck becouse they are not that fast around here Its funny to see when someone tells you that he is stock like you can see his internals and you believe them when they tell you its stock . Stock (with a good driver) in the 1/8 stage 2s run mid to high 8s with a good driver on all 3 of our tracks down here and i mean there is a **** load of them running down here .

Okay, so just do the hp/weight formula and that should give you a better idea of what the race should be like.

My buddy that had an SRT-4 with stage 2 and turbo toys was running 12.8's@110mph on DR's but the tires had also seen better days. I coulda seen him going 12.5's or so easily.

I'd say you'll beat him easily with 430rwhp. My TA has around 420-430rwhp on the spray i raced a turboed delsol that was a pretty even match for the SRT-4 i mentioned above. I walked away hard from the delsol from 50-80mph by about 3 carlengths.

mid to high 8's? Damn, your drivers do suck. We don't play around here in VA. Actually, one of my good friends has a SRT-4 with an intake and an open downpipe (Kind of like a cutout), and he runs 8.9's on street tires.

You are going to beat him. Close this thread. I beat modded 02 GT by about 5-6 cars with my bolt-on auto FD. I also beat LS1 cars but they were only lightly modded. (Lid, Exhaust, gears) SO if you have a cam and heads this is not that great of a race. Like I said, unless he is hardcore with tires and a tune.

It is tuned but has no tire.

Well I have an update...so this is not that worthless of a thread I guess.

On my way to college today I came across him at the local gas station. We talked a little bit blah blah...I told him I couldnt race right now because I am untuned and I only have like 100 miles on my new clutch.

When leaving town he tried to pass me when it went from a 25 zone to a 55 zone. I figured he would go for the pass and I had my car in second gear at about 35 mph when he went for it.
I knew it was a dumb idea with a new clutch and being untuned...but I figured what the hell...I wont shift it hard or take it too high and it should be ok.

When he got to my bumper I nailed it...he pulled to be even with me (he had a big jump obviously when going for the pass) then by the top of second I had a car on him...then I granny shifted 3rd...probably took me 2 seconds to pull it off (scared of new clutch) so he then pulled back to almost my door. Once the old ls1 got into her 3rd gear powerband I left him pretty badly...I only raced him to the top of third and let off at about 5800 rpm and I am guessing I had him by about 4 cars including my own.

Needless to say After a tune when I can take the car to 6500 and when the clutch is broken in so I can drive it, it is not going to be a very close race at all. I am guessing this car might edge out a stock ls1 6 speed by a bit.
