Re: My thoughts on MAF screen
Thanks for the welcome.
I'm familiar with the search feature and used it. Through all of my reading, no one gave any thought to the fact that the screen could possibly be there to straighten the air disturbed by the silencer right in front of it. It's said that the vettes don't have the screen...do they have the silencer?

The 'vettes don't have the baffle/silencer. I believe GM put it there to intentionally try to restrict airflow. They didn't want their flagship 'vette to be outdone by a $23K Camaro.
I posted a link above (edited my post). Have you checked that out? Like I said, there is tons of info there.

Re: My thoughts on MAF screen
I saw the link, thanks.
Like I said before, I think the screen is there to straighten the air flow disturbed by the baffle/silencer. I just mentioned this because it was never mentioned in the many posts I read on this subject.
FWIW, I've been reading on this site almost daily for a month now (since I got my Z28) and have only posted a few times. I know there is lots of info on this board and I do my best to find info I need without asking the same question for the 100th time.
I thought it was odd that no one had made this comment in all of my reading on this subject.

Re: My thoughts on MAF screen
I have also removed mine.
I just thought that the screen no longer serves a purpose when an aftermarket lid is installed.
I'm not debating whether or not taking it off is good or not, I'm just trying to add some insite to an obviously long debated topic

I touched on that subject. I guess no one really spelled it out.

My thoughts on MAF screen
It's said that the purpose of the screen is to straighten the air flow going through the MAF. This was designed with the stock air silencer in mind, which causes turbulance in the air. If an aftermarket lid in installed and the air silencer is removed, then there is no longer the need for the air to be straightened.
Any thoughts on this theory?

Re: My thoughts on MAF screen
I see that your new to LS1tech.com Wile E. Welcome to the board. With that said, this topic has recently been discussed to death. Colonel (partial owner of LS1tech.com) posted tons of great info. The search feature hasn't been functioning properly or I'd post that link for you. The bottom line is that the MAF screen is unnecessary and many of us have had great results by removing it.
edit: The search feature worked! Here's some good info for you...
