Default Moving to Houston

Hey guys. I'm moving to Houston in the latter part of October to attend SAM. What is the best route to find a rent house in a 5 mile radius to Antoine Street? I'm needing a 2 room, 2 car garage house. (3 bedroom is fine)
I've looked online, and there seems to be... nothing. Do I need to contact a real estate agent?

hmmm, 5 miles from anything Antoine isn't really a nice area to live. What is your budget?

Yeah man me, Scooter@MTI and a couple of other guys rented a house off Wirt Rd. & Baggett and it was old but ok. As long as you do not mind the occasional gunfire, bums trying to sell you a vacuum at 3 in the morning and not being able to communicate with your neighbors. Other than that it is ok, try outside of the Belt way it is 10x's nicer and you shouldnt have to worry about your car (as much) or your life and there are honeys outside the beltway. The only chicks off Antoine cost you 20 and could probably give you something bleach will not kill. good Luck at SAM it is a great place.

There are some nice neighborhoods, but they are $$$ and there is some ghetto. I live off of Campbell and Westview. It's not too far away. I ahven't really seen any homes for rent in my neighborhood, but I will keep my eyes peeled. There are some apts just south of I10 near Antoine that aren't bad. Quality of rental homes/property will depend on how much $$ you are willing to spend.

We can spend up to 1500 a month. We really need a house. Wirt is nice, and we weren't too bothered by Antoine close to 34th. It's not ghetto Little ROck anyway. Thanks for the help! MrBill, did we run into you at MTI when we were down there in May or was that someone else?

Well said MrBill, You can find houses for rent outside the beltway from $1,200-$1,600. You will have to deal with the traffic, but it is worth it.
Good luck, and keep us posted. Any more questions feel free to ask.

Antoine and 34th is less than 2 miles from Desoto(crack/gang wanna be's )central. You might want to reconsider locations. I worked over there at night for 3 years and trust me when I say if nothing else... it's entertaining!
