Our bigger local Autozone always used to have a case or two in stock. They haven't had any for over six weeks now. Me thinks this is not good....

I've pretty much cleaned out all the AZ's in my area. None have gotten it back in stock

I do have enough for about 6 years at the rate I drive and change my oil.

Better than rp and m1? I know I have very good things from people who have it.

I would not use either Royal Purple 5W-30 or M1 5W-30 in my LS1 based on the information I read over at bobistheoilguy.com. Royal Purple Racing 41 and Mobil 1 Truck/SUV seem to do very well in LS1's though.

Some people swear by M1 5w-30/RP 5W-30 and get very upset if you say it's not a good oil. It's a fine oil just not ideal for the LS1. Both tend to be on the thin side at temperature and the LS1 likes a thicker oil.

Thats the newer bottle design. Its still the same stuff. "Made In Germany." Thats the key.

My 5.0 hated M1 10-30. It made more noise and ran hotter. With Shell Rotella 15-40 the motor purrs nicely. My dad has torn apart every motor he wore out (quite a few as he used to esxoret over size loads) and experimented with a LOT of oils and even used to sell/use AMSOIL. He concluded that 15-40 shell rotella did the best in his 5.0s/4.6 crown vic pilot cars and that AMSOIL was not worth the $$.

My Experience....

THe 95 TA I bought had castroil GTX run through it...it took oil changes every 500 miles to keep from clogging the filter that Rotella cleaned so much **** out of there.

previously stated about my 5.0

a 93 crown vic with a 98 5.4L did not like Rotella T as it was a bit thick for it, it preferred GTX 10-30, then again, the motor had sat in storage a few years and after it limbered up i never tried Rotella, so I dont know

According to at least 1 oil analysis I have seen, Rotella 15/40 cut wear metals in half in one LS2 GTO as compared to M1 5-30 (or was it 10-30?).

Either way, I like the stuff, its cheap and it holds up damn well under heat, thats why big turbo trucks use it for thousands of miles
