Blew my lme 408 shortblock
Well we just got back from the track and needless to say i have three passes on the short that i bought from a good freind that had no time on the shortblock.Anyway i am still in shock that the 5400.00 short that i bought is now complete garbage.I know it was a oil issuse on the 2-4 rod all i can say is this really sucks when i had a car that could have ran a deep 8's on the bottle.I was really looking forward to running the truestreet program in are aera to beat up on some bigblock guys and i know the ls1 base motor is capaple of going that. All of my goals for the season are pretty much gone BTW this was all done on horsepower passes no nitrous I might post pics to show people what a motor looks like when she blows in the big end at 7000 rpms.

Found the problem.Rod bolt backed out and made that is what caused the motor to have oil pressure issues.I have a hunk of rod still on the crank that is distroyed and one bolt is missing with the threads still in tacked.

I'm a firm believer that LS motors are not 7K rpm material with stock wet sump system. This is why dry sump comes online.(Was yours wet sumped?)
Anyways, I know it sucks when a hole season gets poured in the drain, went through that last year, lost a year round championship with 2 races to go.
Budget racing sucks, but the victories are so sweet.

From my track experience on stock pan and high volume pump, the pump can suck dry the pan before the end of the 1/8th mile.
Also keep in mind the angle of lauch lift.
I lost 2 motors on stock pan (rod issue) but none yet by just running a Milodon and standard pump.
The other losses (2 other blocks, stock, were ringland related).
MY cutoff is 7K, If any of my motors see that, they either get dry sumps, or custom extra reservoir and definately a deeper pan (now that they are available).
I'm not saying your motor may not have had an issue, but I like to cover all my angles for reliability (relative term in racing).

I agree and if it was caused b/c of a defect/problem with your LME motor, I am sure Bryan/LME will stand behind his product 1000%, as he offers great customer service and knows the importance of standing behind his product.
Best of luck man and keep your head up as this to shall pass!

NO we never got on the bottle at all , it was all hp hits only 3 total the first 2 were ok and the 3rd hit was the end of it
as for the set up it does not even have 300 miles on it the bolts that were in rod bolts were lanuti rod bolts and the rest were all arp bolts
