23% Torque Converter Slip? I have been meaning to replace this TC, but cuz it "works" I have left it alone..now its getting down right irritating with how much I think I am leaving on the table. Not even sure how much I am leaving behind? It feels like it plateau's on the top half and then I calculate the slip...no wonder So, I'm in the market for a new TC. I should be able to match up a TC to get me more efficiency than this right?

That sucks. My midwest was at 93% last year. I had them loosen it up over the winter and went to far. It was stalling at 4800 on motor and i was going through it. I just did the calculation and it was 85%. I pulled it out last week and am waiting for it to come back. I had them tighten it back up about 600 looking for a 4200 stall on the brake. then some bigger jets I have the trans R&R down pat. it took 1 hr 45 min by myself on jackstands in my garage

So you'd think I was leaving a lot left up in the TC huh Sometimes I really wished I listen to myself...I knew I should have addressed this earlier. Oh well, I can do the TC Swap (on a lift) in under 2hrs casually wrenching away now, so will have to keep this in mind when the move is done.

Dude, my Yank SS4000E slips between 6% - 8% (92% - 94% efficiency) according to my calculations of around about rpm (the area I see the needle on the tach in as I glance at it goin through the traps, kind of hard to pinpoint exactly where the needle and the traps are since i'm tryin to pay attention to driving, but it's close) i'm goin through the traps at and that's on the 300 shot! So you should definately be able to get better!

Yeah, Yanks are pretty good, my car comes out like a pig on motor cuz of the verter, gears/tire, but on spray, it's rediculous!

Yeah, mine goes to like 3800 on the transbrake and then flashes to like 5100 or a little higher as soon as I let go and the spray hits! I don't really care that it's not so great on motor, cuz I set the car up for the all out, and that's all I care about! I actually got lucky, cuz I got the verter used off a buddy who was gonna use it as his nitrous verter, but never ended up spraying and stayed all motor, so he sold it to me for like $600. My best friends over here both have Yanks also, but they wanted more of a mix converter, basically called up Yank and told them they wanted something that would be good for motor but handle spray, and they got some nasty ****, one of 'em has a verter that goes to 5000 on the transbrake, yet it's efficient and has no problems street driving and so far it's handled 100 shot, he's been havin some issues with his spray, so once that's resolved, he'll test and see what it can take, and the other's goes to like 4600 - 4800 on the tbrake and has handled a 300 dual stage (150 wet/150 dry), but I don't know how efficient it was, he never hit that shot at the track, but it's been just fine on a 200 wet shot for him!

Do a search on google for a mph calculator, and then after you click on one, enter all ur info, whatever mph it tells you ur at, that's with no slip, then take the mph ur actually at at that rpm and divide it by the mph the calculator gave you and that will give you ur efficiency.

Example:

Let's say ur goin through that traps at 125 mph at let's say 6500 rpm and for 6500 rpm with whatever combo of rear gears and tranny gear ur usin the calculator says you should be at 130. Now you divide 125 by 130, and you get about 96% efficiency, which means you only had about 4% slippage.

loudmouth ls1 do you spary all 300 of the line. I was going to run a progressive setup but maybe not. The way it sounds my converter is setup very similar to yours.

I was tossing around NCRC, but a few guys I know said they've had both and given the opp to get one or the other, they'd go Coan. Yank is an option, I had a old-*** 3k stall back when I got my car, it rocked the house for as small stall it was. John @ Fuddle can make one too. I just need one I can count on to work with my setup, and not have to worry about bolting into the LS1/TH350 combo.

200 tnt wet off the line and then most of the time 100 dry .1 seconds later contolled by a digital timer, if the track is **** and i'm havin issues hookin, i'll bring the second stage in a little later, but usually I can hook it comin in a tenth of a sec later. I could probably hit 'em together and hook, I just want to give some kind of delay, even that tenth of a second makes it less harsh on the motor, instead of it all right away.
