It could have been the SRT model, which is I believe 425 or so HP and runs the quarter in low thirteens... Then it wouldn't be so bad... If not the SRT model, I think you definitely need some changes!

Get a used cam on this board, new Comp 918 valvesprings, hardened pushrods, and gaskets for about $500 total. Throw in some $275 Pacesetter headers and a used y-pipe pipe off this board.
Then use www.ls1howto.com to show you step-by-step how to install the cam, and race that .357 magnum again.

Is your car an auto or 6 spd? If it's 6 spd then I would say you lost due to crappy driving. If you have an auto then you may have a problem with your car, or you just lost to a SRT model.

sounds like you need some seafoam dude i bet your **** is gunked.
i'd say get an LS6 intake and headers. it'll take .5+ off your quarter and if you can keep your foot out of it, some mpg too.

Actually I think if it is the 425 horse Magnum it may be a bit faster than a bone stock 01 WS6. I do not think the 340 horse hemi should be faster though due to the added weight of the Magnum.
Only way to know for sure is to run both down the 1/4 mile. Anything else is pure speculation.

You might want to check and see if the trans shop just that installed your transmission has all the shift points set correctly. Start with all the easy bolt-ons lid, catback y-pipe, tb bypass, free ram air. Then move on to the more advanced stuff headers, ls6 intake. If there is a tuner in your area, you might want get your car dyno tuned. I saw a guy pickup 15 hp on an o1 w/ boltons after a tune.
