Default Running down the strip for the 1st time...

Ok.. So i have a 1996 Trans Am with all the options (power everything and t-tops).

It has 87,000 some miles on it.

Auto, stock 3.23's i think.

Nothing is done to the car that is worth mention. Exhaust is jsut cut off (so cutout? lol) and it has a mallory ignition box. The air box has a K&N drop in with the air box cut up to have the entire filter showing. Back seat, sparetire and jack all taken out.. Then the griffin radiator (good for a lil wieght gone and runs way cooler)

I will have draglite wheels/slicks and am goign to unhook the front sway bar.

Motor only has a lil over 5,000 miles on the clock.

At 5300 feet above sea level, what can i expect? Think a high 13's is high hopes? If I run a 14 flat i will be happy....

And any tips for launching hard?

I will return saterday night/sunday morning with results...

PS... i will not be spraying this weekend..

At that elevation, hope for 14.5 @ 95-96mph.

hmmmm like Patrick AFB in Florida? Hahaha its on a Barrier Island.

I just wait for the tree to come down with my left foot on the brake and hammer it. Ive tried the stall the car up and such, and my car seems to launch just as hard flooring it from idle. 60's are identical

That car has way more potential. I ran a 14.9 @93 mph at around 4500 ft. That was with CAI only.

you don't have enough power for those slicks... your posi might hate you after that. Don't expect excellent 60's either because a SLIGHT amount of wheelspin is desired, stock stall and gears you might bog off the line with such sticky tires. only the track will know for sure

so is it worth my time to grind the caliper down to make these wheels fit?

And if you want to run some bigger tires on that stock Differential, you will eat it. Mine **** out when I put the Z06 Rims and the 275/40's on it. I would be able to run those slicks with my setup, expecially with the 3.73's.

I guess i just like the Air Force recruiter more... the army is just too cliche and all the marines have big heads (that i know).

Air force is the most attractive and im going to suck a lil bit out of them and get up into the payroll a lil further when i sign up....

EDIT: this is Dragframe on my friends account..

You will still probably run a better time with the slicks but it isn't going to be all that much for a stock car, maybe 2-3 tenths.

Get up into the payroll a little further?? Lol, it's all standardized. The highest you can enter will be E3 and that's not much. I'm in the AF too
