Im an idiot. What happens when I do this.
What happens when I get a 160 thermostat and change my fan settings to start at 180?
I was told this would be a good idea to do since Ill be getting a W.W. kit (hopefully <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> ) and that MIGHT cause overheating.. so I just wanted to do this to be in the safe side.
Whats the stock thermostat? 180? what about the stock fan settings, when does the fan start working? 200 degrees?
Also since Ill have to use HPP3 or LS1Edit and I have a direct-flo airlid, y-pipe, and a corsa exhaust is there any other thing you would recommend me to reprogram while im at it? someone once mentioned "spark timing" or umm... "spark advance"? ... i cant remember..
supposedly its better to do that with the a high perfomance air lid.

You'll be fine with a 160 thermo and those fan settings. If you get Edit though you can set your combo up however you desire.
My best advice to you as far as tuning other things, is to find someone in your area that has some experience on the LS1 and get some knowledge and assistance from them.

160 thermo and 180 fan temps = 180-185 engine temps. atleast thats what mine runs at <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I asked a guy about that today and he said I might run thru some emission problems?
he explained it as if i was another rocket scientist I barely understood what he was saying?

hotter engine temps is better for emissions. dont ask me why but thats just what ive heard around here. thats the reason for the 195 thermo and 215 fan settings and the throttle body with hot coolant going through it etc etc. gives a more complete burn or something like that.
