Default Stick a fork in me, I'm done.... Friggin' Mac Rasp w/ loudmouth...

I installed Loudmouth a while ago, drone sucks... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

Then, I installed MACs with my Loudmouth, and the RASP is horrible... Drone is worse... <img border="0" alt="[shoot]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />

I had a 18 inch bullet welded in (in place of resonator), and the RASP still sucks... and Drone still there!!! : <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Is there a muffler I can weld into the back of my loudmouth (after axle), that has dual outputs... I don't even care at this point if I lose a few horsepower, I have to quiet this thing down! The though of taking this car on a trip is out of the question right now, because I would be legally insane by the time I reached my destination!!!

What muffler quiets things down considerable, but is not too restrictive?

Thanks.

I would see if you could get someone to buy your LM and buy a Magnaflow. its great low tone and great rumble around town but when you get on it people know your comming.

Can'I I just weld a magnaflow muffler in. (Single in / Dual out)?

They cost about $80, and I would not have to rip out my LM (which is fully welded on, not clamped).

I have that same set up so I feel your pain. I am gonna try 2 flowmaster one chambers after the axle or even 2 borla xr-1s. but I'm guessing that you want something cheap. you could also look at the edelbrock RPM mufflers. bullets after the axle might help too, but not to much.

Had you considered putting the cats back on?

If I had to solve the problem, I would use two stainless steel tailpipe mufflers.

Actually, I considered it, but then I would have to re-enable COTS, my air/fuel will suck in the high RPM etc...

True duals is the best way to go to get the best sound quality. I went through the same thing you're going through. Even added the bullet muffler in the I-pipe, but the rasp with LT's and the ORY through the open Borla was way too much for me to handle.

This is the sugestion that I had for a friend of mine that has the loudmouth and macs.
What I suggested would be to put the bullet in place of the resonator - as a lot of people do.....but then put a bullet in the cross pipe going to the driver's side exit (where the stock muffler was). Then flange the passenger side pipe and either cap it off most of the time or run a Borla type setup with different plates for different sounds.

That make any sense??

You can add as many Dynomax bullets as you want to..but it isn't going to get rid of your rasp. I don't care if you put 5 bullets on your car...you will still hear it.
The only way to completely eliminate the MAC rasp is with high flow cats in the y-pipe.
Switching to a Magnaflow cat-back will help it a lot because it is a pretty quiet exhaust.
As for putting a Magnaflow in the loudmouth...it isn't possible without completely rearranging the tailpipes for use with a crossflow muffler. it would be much easier to swap the loudmouth out for a Magnaflow cat-back

This was exactly what I was gonna recommend. It is only loud at WOT, but it is the *only* cat-back that I know that doesn't rasp without cats(at least you don't hear it). And it flows great too like he said. True duals would be a good option too, but will be extremely noisy inside the car if you dump them before the axle(I prefer the sound to come from the rear).

Obviously, you need to throw that LM in the trash ASAP. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Is this price good?

Is this a real Magnaflow cat-back?
Is there a "new" version of this out?

$360

Thanks for all the advice everyone!

I just ordered A Magnaflow cat-back for $330 shipped! This is by far the cheapest (no-cat) solution I could find.

I can't wait to get this damn LM off my car...

Anyone (with cats) interested in buying a LM with a dynomax muffler welded in? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

You just wasted alot of money. A bullet muffler, about $20, welded in the drivers side tailpipe in the location of the stock muffler, about $20 to $40, reduces the sound level to a much nicer level and eliminates rasp completely. Plus it sounds really nice and deep. I found this solution out of desperation like yourself. Try it, it works perfectly.

I welded in a mini, one chambered flowmaster in each pipe behind the axle. It sounds really nice. Much deeper tone. I still have a little bit of rasp, but it is waaaay quieter. Since you have the bullet, you shouldn't have any rasp with the baby mufflers back there too. Hope this helped.

Any idea what a true dual setup would cost? Should I just have a custom setup installed? The true duel packages I've seen online are VERY expensive.

Thanks.
