8 psi would be safe with a good tune, and yes, you do want to have it retuned when you up the boost. Bob

i would get a boost controller run the car at 5 psi daily then switch to 8 when you want to run it hard. i drive mine on 5 all day.

but than he would need to ditch the maf or have a way to change the tune for the 2 different boost levels...becuase the car would run rich/lean depending on the boost level/tune

Or tune it for the lower 5psi then add meth for the 8psi on same tune since not only does it prevent KR but also adds cooling charge. Just a thought.

you always tune for the high boost level. and at 8+ psi he will need meth or some sort of intake air cooling.

You have a front mount intercooler, 60lb injectors and a forged bottom end with 9.5/1cr, according to your signature. With your combination, you could shoot for 10 to 12 psi on the street as long as you don't see spark knock. You'll want to keep the air/fuel ratio at 11.5/1 at wot. This should get you 600 rwhp as long as your fuel system is up to the task. Bob

as long as the maf is not saturating, why would you need 2 different tunes, or need to ditch the maf to change boost levels?
