Default Need Help Getting Driver's Side Header Off

Im in the process of my heads/cam swap, and I need to get the headers off the heads. I got all 6 bolts off each side, and had a hard time getting the headers off the Y-pipe. So I took a reciprocating saw and cut the Y-pipe so they would drop. This got the passenger header out of the way, but the driver's side header is still blocking the lower 5 bolts on the head. It looks like the steering linkage (dont know of this is the right term) is in the way. I do not see any other way I get it to drop any further without getting the steering linkage disconnected.

So, does anyone have any instructions, pictures, or ideas on how I might get this done? Thanks.

I took mine off to do my header install. There is one bolt holding it in. Then just shake the hell out of it to get it off.

Also, is it easier to get to from the top or from underneath the car? Anyone have a pic?

Undo the motor mounts and use a pry bar to pry the engine to the other side, this will give you the room you are looking for. You also will have to undo the tranny crossmember.

Are these SLP headers?

Theyre Hooker LTs. If I had a picture to show you, Im sure you'd agree the only thing in my way is the steering linkage. I think it would be more work to undo the motor mounts, and tranny crossmember and then pry my engine to the side than to undo the steering. I will crawl under there today after work and see if I can find the bolts that hold it together.

Best I can describe it is when looking at teh front of your cart the linkage bends down towards your left foot. now on the top and bottom of the linkage there is a silver bolt(at least on mine I belive 10mm) its pretty long since it goes through the linkage. remove both of those and I used a piece of 2x4 and a rubber mallet and tapped it towards the ground and it popped right off then you can slide it around to get it off. remember the way it came off for easy install. and after that the removae should be easy. I think you also have to remove the oil diverter (above the oil flter)

If so, then I was cranking on it with a 3/8" drive and even sprayed some Liquid Wrench on it and no go. Is there a trick to getting this off, or is it just REALLY tight?

Lastly, there is another bolt at the bottom of the steering linkage. This one was harder to get a picture of. In this picture, its partially blocked by the alternator bracket, but I drew another green arrow pointing to it. Does this bolt need to come off too?

I just finished installing a set of Hookers last week on my car. Had a heck of a time with the driver's side. Kept gettting caught on the steering linkage and a little square piece of metal sticking out of the block. I didn't want to take the linkage off, so the piece of matel had to go. Ground it down with a right angle grinder, and the header popped right in. Here's a pic:
