I'm guessing that Andy supplied you with the block, while CAM did the build from cam/heads on up? In that case, yeah, it doesn't sound good.
But in Andy's note: That sounds like it's worth a straight-up discussion with Andy regarding where you're going from here. But he's not going to do anything for you if you don't ask.
Sorry to hear of the extent of the damage.
But in Andy's note:
He actually mentioned in his email that he might be interested in moving up to a 402. No problem. My fault or not, I'll give him FULL credit towards the 402.
The only thing in question is the installation labor.

I would say A&A is stepping up to the plate, BIG TIME! Tuffs motor had less than 300 miles on it!!!!!!!! NO FREE PARTS OR LABOR! I think he's getting a "discount on labor"?? R&R is all on him AND shipping. He's so disappointed I don't think he's going to use them for the rebuild. In this business you are getting taken care of, IMO.
I've never used them, but I will think twice the next time I order another motor. I'm on my 6th.

So where did the lifters/cam come from? Did you reuse the stock lifters or buy new ones yourself that you then gave to CAM to install?

Yeah.... it's all in the post that I linked. Brand new everything, Comp OEMs, not the Rs and the cam was a Cam Motion custom grind. Andy and I settled on a nice custom turbo cam for me upfront, but he ended up sending me one of his off-the-shelf blower cams instead and it had to go

Andy says lifters/cam failure, can't tell which was first.... I say that the engine never had great oil pressure from the very beginning.... strted high and fell off quickly as the engine warmed up.
I bought the Cam Motion cam and comp OEs after I found out that there was a 224/228 114 off the shelf comp with the shortblock.

Cam Motion + Lifters has not been a good combination lately. Until you get some more info it will be hard to determine what caused what though.
I hope everything works out for you, I have been watching your build for a while now and I know this **** has to be wearing on you.
Good luck,
Kevin

Gotcha. I feel your pain, man. I had a similar experience w/ a shop that did some major work to my '87 Formula 350. The motor went kaplut 5 minutes after I picked it up, and their story was "it ain't my fault." The problem is once all that junk gets in the motor it's hard to say what caused what to happen first. Good luck man, hope someone steps up to the plate, whether it be A&A, CAM, or whomever you purchased the cam/lifters from, to make this right.
