Default Plug ls1 intake egr?

I am going to be deleting the egr, air, and rear o2 sensors out of my computer. I now need to know if i can plug the egr hole in the intake, since i dont have the money for an ls6 intake right now. Does anyone know where i can get the plug?
Thanks
Tim

I bought a 1 3/8" Expansion plug/freeze plug from Pep Boys. It was about 4 bucks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

This page also gives a good description on removing that stuff

Another satisfied user of the rubber expandable freeze plug. No problems at all.

Vette's also had a slightly different cam profile to alleviate the E.G.R.

Back when I had Ed Wrong tuning (I know, I know, forgive me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ), over the numerous times he and I went back and forth trying to correct my tuning, he specifically asked if I had an LS6 intake. At that time I didn't and said no. I got my PCM back, put it back in the car, and now that car ran like sh*t around town.

I plugged in a Tech2, drove around, and found out he turned off my EGR system in the PCM. The lack of EGR was causing excessive amounts of knock retard (I think I saw a maximum of 34 degrees of K.R.) at throttle tip in as well as I had to rev the engine upwords of 3,000rpm plus in order to get the car simply moving from a dead stop to negate the 12-18 degrees of K.R. I got then. It dawned on me that this was when the EGR system was working and I then monitored both "Desired EGR Pintle Position" and "Actual EGR Pintle Position" Both were 0% telling me my EGR wasn't turning on. I quickly corrected this and the car ran as smooth as my Olds Aurora. No more 30 degrees of K.R. at throttle tip in and absolutley NO K.R. starting the car from a dead stop. Now in order to get the car going from a dead stop simply requires me letting out the clutch and letting the torque of the motor do the rest.

MAJOR DIFFERENCE!!! All from my EGR system being turned off!

As to it being ugly. Our brakes on these cars are ugly too, but I don't see anyone taking them off and running without something in it's place! Either way, both perform a designed function, and that designed function of the EGR system doesn't contribute to any performance gains whatsoever when removed!

You may not be able to tell the difference by your butt-o-meter as I did, but hook a scanner and monitor things such as overall timing advance and K.R. both with your system turned off and then with everything functional and tell me you don't notice something!

I have had ZERO problems with driveability in regards to removing my EGR & AIR. While there may be no performance benefit to removing them, there is definately a visual benefit. As Steve mentioned, "its ugly and hey, it shaved 3lbs off my front end. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> " Not everything has to be about performance. An emaculate looking engine-bay can speak volumes for a car and its owner. Just look at Steve's beauty (that should read CAR)! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

My engine compartment is immaculate for the most part too, and I still have my pump in it's place!

I'm a person that believes in "form follows function!"

Besides, you don't drive and race at the drag strip with your hood up!!

I cut a small plate of 3/16" aluminum with my jig saw, drilled a hole in it, slathered the back side of it with Permatex Copper, and bolted it down on the intake.

There it sits. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> No problem.

Read my post in this thread;

https://ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...;f=23;t=004444

There is NO PERFORMANCE GAIN TO BE HAD BY REMOVING THE E.G.R. or A.I.R. system when run at WOT at the drag strip. The PCM overrides it off at this point in time.

I am staunchly against removing the E.G.R. and A.I.R. systems when no performance gain can be had and driveability suffers.

I ran without one for some time. If its so necessary then why had the vette never had one and 01's and up had theirs removed? I mainly removed mine cause its ugly and hey, it shaved 3lbs off my front end <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
