Default Man.. did i F@#% up!!!

figured i'd save a few $$ and install my 90/90 on my recently built H/C car...
install went well... til i started the car....
bang,boom,pow.....

short story long, i dropped a nut down my freshly ported 243's...
cracked the block, & FD'd up my head....

I am having it re-sleeved as i type.... & sending the heads off to my local head porter...

Note to self... Let my local speed shop install things from now on... A VERY costly mistake!!

Just thought i'd share... Please don't flame me too much.... I am @ the brink of suicide...

JK... A "figure" of speech..

Damn man, that blows... Building cars is a learning experience, guarantee you won't make that mistake twice. =( Hope you get it up and running soon!

it sucks that you messed your engine up, but don't let that stop you from working on your own car again.
it always makes me feel terrible when i mess up something on my own car when i'm working on it, but it makes me feel good in the long run when i tell people that i did my own work on a project... you just don't have to tell people what mistakes you've made, only that you completed it.

chalk it up to experience.

Why are you having the block resleeved? Why not just buy a new/used block?

Did the same thing with my motorcycle a few years back. When I read your post, I just cringed. Good luck on the rebuild.

yeah, that sux *****, next time you work on the motor, cover up holes that stuff absolutely must not fall into. My friend sucked the bolt that held his airbox inplace into his intake and fucked his LT1 up. Man he was pissed, needless to say, he lock-tited that bitch from then on.

Usually about $1500 just for the short block. For some, me included, that is a substantial difference.

Yeah, same here... I was going to go 408, too expensive. Ended up going 347, still not finished, but I figure I can just turn up the boost and make up the difference. =)
