Lightbulb New idea for my Chevelle...am I crazy??

Been thinking about how to make the thing handle well. Was gonna do a 9" w/ T/A mount and do all custom a-arms up front w/ the ATS spindles. Why not integrate the frame w/ a C5. Chevelle wheelbase is 112" and the vette is 104.5". I could have the DS and the tq tube lengthened 7.5". I'm also looking at it price wise.

Price for all the main parts I would buy:
ATS spindles w/steering arms - ~$750
Custom A-Arms (upper/lower) - ~$1000
Custom 9" housing - ~$1000
T/A, panhard, brace, etc ~$1000
And other fab work that would have to be done.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-Co...spagenameZWDVW

Now this seems like it could be a good option. Get a running motor, 6 spd (out back!), IRS, good front susp, can use the stock spindles for the C6 Z06 brakes w/ ABS.

Am I thinking a little crazy??

seems pretty pricey to me, but is doable. Also I didn't see the abs module. If you want ABS and traction control that may be controlled by the BCM in the corvettes, not the ECM (or is it ecu??).

also, I'm not sure if that's a 99 chasis. My 99 only has one fuel line going to the fuel rails, that one has two (a return). Just something I noticed.

Well I'm not going to buy this I am just starting to really choose the route to go. ATS is doing a 1st gen called 'Project 50/50' that is doing this type of set up.

Well I had a nice talk w/ Tyler from ATS since he is doing this on his 1st gen. Sounds like the largest problem will be getting the torque tube lengthened. I would really like to go this route as he was able to add a lot of ground clearance. His car is slightly lowered and has 7.5" of clearance!! Now to find a place that will lengthen a torque tube...

I was looking at those GTR's at FFR and they make me but I always figured it would be near impossible to find the rolling stock for one, obviously (as usual) I was wrong.

Look at this, you could sell all the **** you don't need to recoupe some of the expense!!
http://www.paeauto.com/CarDetails.as...YY22G7X5107487
Check out the pic from the back. Is that a ******* T/A spoiler??
So I could have my uncle spend like $7K-$9K and sell misc body parts, door panels, roof, lights, etc and get back like $1K-$3K!! Hmmm... and if it doesn't work out part the rest out.
Motor w/ wiring - $3K
Tranny - $1K
Rear IRS w/ trans axle - ~$1500
Etc....

Just bend it back or I'm next door to Seattle Radiator. Why waste it? A stock one on ebay probably goes for like 40-50 bucks...

Places like that **** me off (mini rant) cuz if you read the info it says that C5 Vette comes with not only a back seat but an AM/FM CASSETTE player........when was the last time you ever saw, let alone could get a damn cassette player in a C5 or earlier Vette? I know they had em in the 80's/early 90's........but c'mon? And a back seat????? I know the pages are obviously similar to form letters, but at least attempt to get some of the info correct for the cars......

rant over.

And yeah, that TA spolier makes Baby Jesus cry when mounted on a C5, even a smashed Vette.

yes....my c5 came with a cassete player, wtf? I don't even see a cd player (single disc) as on option for the frc's. I don't think CDs became standard until 02 or something like that.

Mine doesn't have a back seat though

Are you serious? Even F-Bods got em in the mid 90's. My 95 TA had a CD player :\

yep, first thing I did to my car was put a CD player in it.....its redicolous

Actually, I prefer the monsoon CD player over the Alpine one I put in there because I like the equalizer setup on the monsoon. But the Alpine will play MP3 discs and has a hookup for an IPOD (usefull if I ever get one) I wonder if the monsoon stereo would plug in.....probably not.

You could get cassette or cd in the FRC vette, also had optional cd changer in trunk.
