Default Did your cutout do this??

I was trying to find out if anyone had this problem........after i got my cutout put on last week my car was making a weird noise when i hit the gas. I jacked the car up today and found out that the rattling noise is the big metal protection thing that mounts to the bottom of the car. It keeps the exhaust away from the car. If anyone had this problem did you fix it? and How?

Thanks in advance

Are you talking about the heat shield? Is it hitting the cutout? You can bend the hell out of it if if it will help. You could also jam some steel wool or something in behind it to absorb the vibrations.

you could position the cutout lower so it wont hit, or bend the headshield or I know alot of people just take the headshield off

Well the heatshield is there for a purpose/reason .. I bent mine out of the way, all my heat shields started rattling from the Longtubes/cutout setup ha ha .. so i had to either bend mine, or tighten them better.. ...

Yup, that way it put pressure on it , so it wasnt soo loose, if those bolts are loose, use lock-tite..

Same problem here, seems like the cutout is vibrating the heat shield.

The only heat shield I have on mine is the driver's front; the one protecting the fuel lines. Don't have any problems without them

Same here, haven't had any other heat shields on there for several years.

I ripped that heat shield off a while ago when I was trying to track down a rattle and never put it back on. The girlfriend has told me that the floorboard sometimes gets a little warm during spirited driving but she never considered it hot. So I wouldn't worry about ripping that mother off. As long as you're cutout isn't pointing towards the car.

The cutout will make anything CAN rattle.... rattle.

Mine was to the point where I had to keep any spare change in a zip lock bag in the center console.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Im going to tighten the bolts and see if it makes a difference. If it doesnt i'll most likely just take it off
