What Timing set to use???
I have heard alot of people go to the double roller. Only question with this is will the asp pulley still fit with the oil pump beeing shimmed out??
If not then what should i use?
I am installing S2 heads and a 224-.568/112 cam.
Also thinking about some wet nitrous.
All i want is something that will hold up.

The double-roller chains do cause clearance probs w/ ASP pulleys. Single chains from Katech, Cloyes, or Comp Cams will work just fine.
BTW, I have a Comp Cams chain still in the shrink wrapped box, & will sell it cheap. PM me if you're interested.

I remembered reading that once before somewhere, but when I asked about it, I coudlnt remember who told me that and everyone thought I was crazy.
The way it was explained to me, is the chain goes inside the timing chain cover, and the pulley goes on the outside of the timing chain cover. How could something inside the cover affect something on the outside?
Could you please explain? I just ordered a Rollmaster Iwis Double chain and plan on getting an ASP pulley soon and I dont want to run into any problems.

Re: What Timing set to use???
On a double roller chain, you have to shim the oil pump out to make room for the the wider chain and gears. The ASP underdrive pulley gets drawn in threw a seal on the timing chain cover via the big crank bolt till the proper torque is applied. When you shim the oil pump, it brings it closer to the inside of the timing chain cover and could cause clearance issues with the ASP underdrive pulley, so essentially the pulley goes threw the timing chain cover and thats how something on the outside could effect something on the inside <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> . I have only heard this problem with the SLP double roller so I don't know about the rest of the double chains out there, and it seems not everyone has the problem...

Re: What Timing set to use???
Dan, thanks for the info. This is good to keep in mind. I guess I'll just have to find out when I do it myself this May. Hopefully I'll have the same luck as 2002Snortmaster. Thanks guys! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
