Default LS6 Intake?

How far will the LS6 intake take you power wise?

Current Project is a 402ci LS6 with MTI Stage 2 Heads

Not sure on Camshaft choice but will be more on the mild then the wild side.

Would I need to fork out all that cash for a FAST setup either the 78 or the 90/90 or would the LS6 get it done? How much more power would you assume gained going from LS6 to a FAST setup at around 425 rwhp level?

(I did a search and it comes up with page cannot be displayed)

Just sell the ls6, and get a Fast 90/90

I don't have any intake currently. This is being built from the ground up.

I think its worth about 20bhp from memory. Maybe more ported and on a 402.

i think they claim 15 over an ls6, and 20 on an ls1. (unported)

I think TEA just posted about a huge dyno test they performed. He kinda raved about the FAST. It performed much better than he thought it would. Do a search, you'll find it, it's not that old.

You can use the LS6 on any LSx setup. There's no point where it suddenly stops working and reduces your HP to ZERO.

You could have a 1500bhp bown setup running an LS6 if you wanted. The question is:

"is the Ls6 the best intake, or is there one that will make more power?"

A FAST 90/90 will make more power over the LS6 on a stock engine. So an engine requireing greater air flow will only benefit more from it.

However it depends if you are prepared to folk out $1200 for it.

There are other options however.

In general you'll find that all the available intakes (except sheet metal custom), restrict the output of the motors above certain levels.
Look at most LS6 dyno graphs, they peak at a max of 6300 and carry flatly after that.
So if $$ are an issue, the LS6 will do the job till 6500 and the power loss VS a FAST would only be pronounced after those rpms.
What I'm saying is that you will not loose 20 rwhp under the curve from using a LS6, but mostly at upper rpms.

Thanks.

Money is the issue, I am concerned how much power I would be loosing but if its not till that high of an RPM it isn't that big of a factor.

What other options are there that somebody pointed out earlier?

Do a search there is plently of info and dyno graphs from people who have switched from LS6 to FAST 90. It seemed to me that if you made over 400 you would benefit about 20 rwhp from a FAST mostly in the upper rpms. There's not really much gain down low. Intakes that have been Mamo ported also seem to do better down low. I didn't dyno before mine but I beleive it added around 15rwhp on an LS6 motor and its really the only mod that I have.
