How many miles can I expect to put on my 94' TA before I start having serious/expensive mechanical problems? I'm not talking about little things like window/headlight motors, but more than that.

I know it depends on how you treat it and drive it, but I'm looking for more of an average.

I have over 150,000 on my 93 and I know several folks that are well over the 200,000 mark. But I also know people that purchased ones with gremlins and had issues at 50,000 miles. Hope that helps.

That's cool. I bought mine 2.5 years ago at 64k or or so, I now have 77k and under the hood it still looks great, and runs/sounds like new. Hopefully I'll be able to hit up the 150k+ mile crew :x:

My brother had a 95 z28 it was his DD from 97 to 04, from 30,000 to 232,00 miles. Thats when something in the bottom end broke and he decided to sell it. Although he did run into a few problems with it, it never had a engine or tranny rebuild, he used nothing but Mobile 1 10w30 synthetic oil. If you would have seen the condition of everything except the engine and the fading paint on the bumpers, you wouldn't believe it had that many miles! Not even a rip in the side of the seats where they usually rip!! The bose speakers werent even blown out, suspension and steering was still tight like the day he bought it.

He sold it on ebay for $1700 to a couple dudes from Alabama, I think they were gonna use it as parts car, I would'v just dropped a new engine in it and have it back on the road if I had it.

My '94 daily driver has 132k miles and it's running strong. It's the little junk that eats at your pocket like radiator, O2's, cat(s), etc.

That's awesome. My speakers are blown and I have a rip in the drivers seat side (is it possible to get that stitched up/fixed so it won't get any bigger at least?), but that happened before I got my car. My cars been repainted mostly by the previous owner, and I had the bumper painted, and other than some scratches, a spidercrack in the front (which hopefully i'll get repainted soon), and some door panel scratches, it looks amazing for a 12 year old car.

How long an engine lasts is more on the owner and how well they take care of it, rather than the engine itself

True, although their are engines that have a good or bad reputation. I dont care what others say, GM can make some good engines! The LT1's were pretty tough, and LSx series seem to be very reliable and just as efficient as other engines with comparable hp numbers. Oh, and the LS7 owns... for now. I'v been reading some stuff about a LS9 with over head cams that Gm is developing. Sounds badass.

Yea, but neglect them and they'll fall apart just like any other mechanical device
