What does everyone use? My nextdoor neighbor asked me and I wasnt quite for sure. He said he has had some bad ties with at&t so that makes yahoo out of the question. Anyway does anyone have earthlink or netzero or something?

I had Verizon for a while in college it was quick but I like cable better since I don't have a home phone, nor did I use when I had Verizon, just a cell phone.

I use the cable company. I believe the price is higher through them.

SBC had a deal about 3 months ago when I moved into my new house. 3MB line for $17/month for the first year....including wireless modem/router.

Ive had both dsl and cable, ive personally had less problems with my connection through dsl.

But I also know a lot of people that love cable and will not switch to dsl.

Either way, I think you will be happy, especially if you are coming from a dialup connection.

One thing about cable is that each area, like your block, will share a line with X amount of bandwith. If you're the only one on it, you get it all. If your neighbor gets on, you each get half. Eventually you're only getting a tiny bit of the whole pipe to send and receive data.

HOWEVER....I had cable internet for about a year when all we had were cell phones and didn't have much trouble. We switched to DSL to get it cheaper.

They're both fast...I think DSL in my neighborhood is a bit more "stable".
