Default 87 GN vs. 95 GT

Well, all things considered, I'm pretty pleased with the way my lil ol Buick performed tonight. Its a stock turbo, stock longblock car with bolt ons, 19 lbs., 3.70's, and a 3,000 stall....The 2 ladder of which helped NONE from a roll lol...The 95 GT is a friend of mine, its a full bolt on car, 306, H/C/I high compression, 5-speed car with 3.73's...He didn't wanna do it from a dig because he gets NO traction before 20 lol...My GN is a from a dig car, let me remind you of that.

We went from 40-120 and it was DEAD LOCKED. I hit about 8 degrees of knock retard on my scanmaster, seeing as how it was all nice and muggy outside in south Missippi in Mid July lol...

So, it was a good race with friends, and I was quite pleased with the way the car ran on the stock turbo, intercooler, and pump gas.....Can't wait to install this new turbo and IC I have sittin here

Well if his car is like my head/cam/full bolt-on 5.0, then that means you trap high 90s

(jsut had to say it)

LOL

Get your carburetor done and then tell us what you do...

BTW sounds like fun with the GN. That is one car I have never had the opportunity to race or drive.

Good run Will. GN's are awesome cars. I love racing/seeing them at the track. Definately can be made a big hitter. -Mark

Best GN phrase ever to a ricer . "It is just a stock Buick. Seriously how many stock Buicks do you know that are fast..."

yea GN's are bad ***, a buddy of mine that lives across the parking lot (apartments) has a full out race GN his father and he had built. Upgraded turbo etc. etc. Anyone seen that old video of the GN that ran twin turbo's and had the manifolds run out the fenders? dyno'd like 900 or 1000 something like that.

(just had to say) is your car a 306 or 302 more than likely a 302 and he wont trap high 90's more like the 110 range

My GN trapped 105ish in the heat at about 16-17 lbs.....Its now at 19 lbs., I fixed a nasty vacuum leak, gave it a MUCH needed tune up, and hooked up my scanmaster finding it needed a lil Nitromethane added lol

I found a 1985 GN forsale near me. The lot only wanted around $14,000 CDN ($13,995). The car also only had 85,000 kms or so. It looked like it was repainted.
What were the specs on the stock GN?

That sounds a *bit* high to me, but I also don't know the exchange rate between US and CDN....MAKE SURE that the interior is clean, thats what made my decision for me...

That's about right. I'm not sure what those 3.70's are going to do for you.
But if you were running 19psi and saw 8* of KR, I doubt you picked up anything from 16-17psi at 0*. At that level, high-timing, low-boost makes more power.

In a stock car with a chip and 235-60/15 DR's I went 13.4@101mph.

I went 12.9@103mph with:
*Cottons 93 chip
*Postons air box base lid
*Billet inlet bell
*Convertor and fan switches
*160* stat
*Walbro 340 with hotwire kit
*Adjutable wastegate actuator...running 17psi of boost
*Test pipe
*235-60/15 DR's

With a 2800 convertor, it went 12.7-12.8's at 105-106 at 17-18psi of boost and some 100-octane splashed into the tank.

Put that turbo on, get a decent DP on the car, put some good gas in the tank and crank up the boost.

Thats the plan...I REALLY need it too cool down. This Southern Mississippi heat and humidity KILLS me
I'm currently rigging up and IC spraybar with some extra stuff I have laying around, gonna see if it helps with the KR. I also need to get some tires for it lol...

I'm not sure if you're asking "Why bother?" or "For what car?"....

So, its for my GN....

And its because it won't cost me much of anything. I can get brake line at work, I have extra N2O line, an extra bottle, etc....It is HOT down here in Mississippi, and I figured since it didn't cost much, I figured it was worth a shot, just to see if it might help cut down on heat (and KR) when playing around...

My car is a 302. The motor is brand new, so no need to overbore it.
