just installed procharger...help!
i just finished an install of a mild procharger setup on my 02 camaro. it is a 5psi 6 rib p1sc system. while i wasnt expecting miracles, it kind of disappointed me, when i got the gauge hooked up i realized why...at WOT at 5500rpm the gauge is barely even at the 1psi mark. checked the belt and it is tight, all the air ducts are tight. any ideas as to what would cause this? i feel a little bit more power but i wouldnt think this would be normal. in case it matters, it is about 86 degrees with 52% humidity

I would check the easy stuff 1st. Sure all your duct clamps are tight.
Are sure you are not having belt slip issued?
What bypass valve are you running? Is it installed in the correct direction.
Now you saw you only saw 1 psi @5500. Was this while driving under a load, and not just wrapping the throttle.

i was driving.. i did try swapping the bypass valve around since the instruction manual says the inlet side has the bolt heads exposed on the butterfly and it did look to be backwards out of the package...but there was no change in pressures while driving. also im not sure if it even matters but it is not "whistling" at high rpms

i dont think the belt is slipping but i didnt want to overtighten it either...it is as tight as the other drive belts on the car..does it need to be tighter? also the gauge i am using is a new autometer. i blew into the tube and i cant get it above 3psi so i dont know if that is normal or if the gauge is screwed(even though it shows vacuum at idle) like i said i can tell some power change but i thought it would be a lot more than this so i am pretty sure it isnt a gauge and some other problem instead

no, I misread lol.
Its hard to blow into the gauge and get above 3-4 psi so thats normal.
All you can do is check all your hoses and make sure the bypass is working. Also made sure the crank bolt and the belt is tight. It has to be very tight on a 6 rib, almost where you can barely move it.

Get someone to start the car while you are under it. The boost bypass valve should open(vac). once you see which way it is calling open, remove the valve and see that it is truely open... this will eliminate the bypass.... though I truely believe that is your problem.

You can try and disconnect the vacuum line from the by pass valve (vac source removed valve closed) and do a easy pull, just back out of it slowly. This should eliminate a problem with the operation of the bypass side. And or point you in a better direction in finding the fault.

The belt should be tight. If you can twist the belt more than a 1/4inch, it needs to be tighter. How does the car feel when you drive it? Do you feel boost, then it stops or what? The car should pull all the way till redline. What's it doing?

just tightened the belt and all the clamps, cranked the car and the bypass valve opened, disconnected vacuum source and it closed. reconnected valve and drove it...still no more than 1psi. thanks for all the help guys..also just curious, anyone elses procharger sound like an a/c compressor rattling at idle? i saw a couple of other threads where people talked about it so i didnt think much of it

yes they are noisy at idle.
Something has to be way wrong to only be seeing 1psi, on my old P1SC car the bypass blew off and I still saw 4-5psi with it dragging on the gound. Those blowers move a huge amount of air, did you check to make sure the crank bolt didnt come loose?

Did you try driving it with the bypass valve vacuum line disconnected?
You say the crank pulley bolt is tight, are there dowel pins in the procharger pulley to keep it from spinning while in position in the crank pulley? Seem to remember some issues in the past, of either no dowel pins or the crank bolt being just s bit to long.
How is the intake side of the blower, any blockage, or problems there.
