well heres the thing,i was told only to do that if i was planning on not putting it back on but its my girlfriends car and i got her the factory grill with the license plate mount on it and i wanna make sure that if i pull the old one off that i will still be able to put the new one on....any advice?

All these guys are reccomending that you just yank on it, yet they aren't (or maybe they are) the same people that ended up damaging the paint badly on their front bumpers as a result.
There is a tab on each side that can easily be worked out with some easy pressure. From there, it's just a matter of some pressure and pulling it at some different angles to pop out the remaining couple tabs on the bottom and some plastic guide pin things on the top.
Take my word for it, don't just start yanking. That works for some people, but you also run the risk of spider cracking your paint. You don't want to have to get the grille off and then have to pay $300 to have your front bumper repainted, do you? Take your time and it will come off. It does involve some force and some pulling, but it's not quite as simple as just ripping it off quickly.

I actually loosened the front cover at the bottom so I could get to the inside of the front cover. I just took off all of the bottom fasteners. That allows you to see the spring tabs that hold the grille in place inside the cover on the bottom and some cheap nuts threaded onto the top attachments. I carefully pried/pulled to get them off. But be careful, you can crack your paint if you flex the bumper cover too much. Good luck. It looks SO much better without that insert. But if you need a front plate you may still need to figure out a way to keep that attached there.
