Default Thunder Racing CheaTR package

Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this combo. It sounds like everything i want, around 400 at the wheels, stock drivability, and decently priced. But is it to good to be true?
looking for any feed back

I am not sure what the package includes, but I just installed the cheaTR cam and I like it. It runs within .1 & 1 MPH of my F13 and it idles 100% better.

I have read that is tough on valve springs. What springs are you running and what kind of life do you expect? Thanks.

It is not more tough than any other fast ramp cam. With 921's properly installed you could see 20>30K miles.
It somewhat depends on the way you drive it also. Like how much you beat on it and if you let the springs warm up to operating temp b-fore hamering it.

not to hi jack the thread but im also considering this package too (the heads and cam)
...

i know it was designed for stock manifolds but would having basically LTs with pretty much straight piped TDs hurt it?

No, quite the contrary it will put out a few more ponies.
see "designed" for stock manifold is evident by the large split that is exhaust biased to keep the exhaust valve opened longer and facilitate the exit of gases.
Stock cam is designed for stock manifolds, but put on headers and you gain ponies.

there claim of stock idel and drivability is that true? What would be some good upgrades to compliment this package?
i drive it everyday so realiablity is a big factor.

I have over 40,000 miles on the same set of springs using the same intake lobe. Hard on valvesprings is just a myth.

I have Crane dual springs that came on my Patriot Heads when I bought them 3 years ago, at least I think that is the springs they used back then. The CheaTR seams to be ALLOTTTT easier on the springs than the F13 was. The valve train is quieter. I am not planning on changing the springs until I break one or start having valve float.

Oh yeah, 6600 minimum to benefit from the powerband.
Now you can shift lower, but you'll be leaving useable power on the table.

Read Patrick G writeup on that cam, it answers the majority of questions.

The cheaTR cam is great. I just had thunder racing install it this week. The kit comes with comp cams dual valve springs, titanium retainers, push rods and the nice cam. The idle quality was great, just the slightest lope, barely noticable real stealth. Power is from idle all the way up to 6800 rpms acording to them. So the only real consideration is tweeking the computer to raise the rev limiter to 6800 rpms.
Thunder Racing has my full confidence.

Thanks, another thing I wanted to point out is that even the first time I fired it up there was no valve train noise. I expected at least a little but it is pretty much non existant. I have been testing it around town, loading the engine at low speeds and it really doesnt sound much different from stock. The company really did their homework with this cam.
