Default HELP!!!!!!!! Car is running horrible after header install...??

Ok so I need some serious help, this car is my dd and I have another car to drive right now but wont have it forever so I need to fix this...anyways I just installed pacesetter longtubes(emission style) w/ pacesetter ory on my '01 Formula this wkend and it is running like crap....it is misfiring so bad it is rediculous, I took it to autozone and it gave multiple codes, basically all the 02's are bad and it is saying that it is having multiple misfires....what gets me is everytime I start it up it will run fine for about five min then run like crap(shaking, misfires, engine feels like it is about to fall on its face when I give it gas etc..) I checked all the plug wires and they are on all the way. I knew it would run bad for a while but this is ridiculous, i cant even drive it, something is serisouly wrong. When I did the install I replaced the plug wires and plugs w TR55's and bosch wires if that helps, I havent had time to check the plugs yet b/c to get to most of them I feel like I would have to take the headers off again, something I dont want to do. Could it be possible that the car is running so rich that it fouled out some plugs with in just a couple hours, I have only driven about a 100 miles on the car hoping maybe it might start to run better but it hasnt I dont even want to drive it anymore!! someone please help....

did you get o2 extensions and have the front 2 plugged in? also theirs a chance you cracked one of the plugs when you were putting the headers in. And double cheap to make sure the wires are all the way plugged into the coil packs and are all the way onto the plugs

I extended the 02 sensors my self although I think that they might be bad now but that would not cause the misfires just bad mileage, I am prob going to buy some new 02's and yes they are plugged in...I guess I will pull some of the plugs tomorrow at least the ones I can get to easily and see if they are fouled out...anyone else have any other suggestions???

Also I am going to drive it up to a shop my friends uncle works at so we can get it on a lift, prolly about 8 miles away, would it be ok to drive it while it is misfiring or will I damage something?

if you extened the 02's yourself theirs a change you wired them wrong, if you did then that would cause your car to run EXTREAMLY rich and probally could mess up the plugs. I read another thread in here not too long ago where someone miswired their 02 sensors and went through a 1/4 tank of gas in 20 minutes.

yah thats exactly what its doing, using a shitload of gas, the only way I see I coulda wired it wrong was the 2 brown wires aka the heater wires, they are the same colors so when I cut them I coulda wired them to the opposite wires but I didnt think it would matter since they were just heater wires....if this is the situation do you guys think it is running so rich that some of the plugs fouled out??

ok i had a similar thing happen to me......if your o2's or even one o2 is messed up your car wil run like total **** trust me...furthermore, recheck and recheck the plugs and wires...i can get to all my plugs without removing the header and i have pacesetters u jus have to ge some of them from under the car. also after you try fixing some of this stuff disconnect your battery for a good 45 minutes to reset the car and then drive it and see if its cool or not that way you can start to narrow the stuff down as to what is NOT wrong with the car....worst case senario get some o2 extension 25 bux and get 2 new o2 sensros i think 60 ea if i remember right....and word of advice do a searcha nd find the part number for the corvette o2 sensor those are better in thel ong run specially with lt's

hope that helps man keep us poseted

it's gotta be the o2's wiring, but I would check the plugs for cracks as well...I believe I can get to all of my plugs and I have PS's...

if you get new sensors get the bosch 13111 i think those are longer so you dont need any type of extensions

That's where you are wrong man, my pass side O2 was bad and not only did I use almost a half tank in 60 miles, but the car was misfiring, shaking, spitting, backfiring, it was AWFUL!

I got new O2s, vette rears so you don't need to buy extensions, these were actually long enough that I had to tie them up out of the way with zip ties. Anyway the car went right back to normal after that. So I say you need new O2s or you have improperly wired ones.

they will stock them but like what was said above use vette rear o2's so you wont need extensions, the plugin should be the same. If you tell them you have a F body they will give you the stock length wires and they will be too short and require extensions
