Default New cam is in....

Spent a few days down at Thunder Racing last week for a new Thunder custom cam, ported TB, ASP UD Pulley, 3.90 gears, and dyno tuning.

Went from the MTI G1 cam to a 224/228 X-ER 110+0. Geoff specced it out for me knowing it's just for driving around town fun and I wanted more low end. And here I ended up gaining up top too. New numbers are 415rwhp and 393rwtq. Lots of area under the curve too which is what I was hoping for, that and the new gears are gonna be fun. So far only driven it easily and cruised back from there and still managed 25mpg on my way home. The only bad thing is my car had a bad miss up on the top end near 6k after they had done the work. Luckily Geoff and others stayed around and tweaked this and that and pretty much solved the problem with only a few random misses on the last few dyno pulls(we think I got some bad gas while I was down there). I did run 2nd gear up to 6200 after I had 2 good tanks of 93 in it and it ran fine. Soon I'll have it dyno'ed at my local dyno for numbers all they way to 6500. Sheet attached.

Amazing! You went to a smaller cam, yet picked up power down low and up high. Looks like a trend! Folks, you gotta start looking at proper valve events to maximize area under the curve. JasonG's cam is very mild, yet whooped up on a larger cam. Proper intake valve closing points, proper placement of overlap, and maximizing dynamic compression can make a small cam beat a larger cam. Congrats. Well done Thunder Racing.

Gears and UD pulley would be a wash. Ported TB could be worth 0-3 rwhp. Both were tuned for best power. Solid gains IMO.

Yes! That is a very solid gain! I wish I would have thought my setup out a little more than I did. That is ok. the next one is already in the works.

All the other stuff I added? hehe Well the TB and Pulley maybe gave me 5-10hp but I would dare say that the 3.90's sucked it right back out(dyno wise). There are alot of differences with tuning but it was tuned before on the previous cam. Again I think the whole curve being above the old one is more than enough to tell the story here.
