Angry Another Procharger Belt Problem 8 Rib

I am really getting fed up with this
Running 8psi with a 4.5" Blower pulley, 7.625" crank pulley.
I have went through 5 belts in like 2 weeks
I had my installer check & triple check alignment.
He said its dead on & cant understand it.
First I had a 427 belt which is slightly too long.
Next size down belt, 415 is too small.
You can manage to get it on but if you try to put any
good tension on it the adjuster pulley (idler) is so high
that the belt does not rap around the crank pulley good
enough and the belt walks back because there is no
ridge on the backside of the procharger crank pulley for
some reason. I will be going with the SDCE setup but do not
have the time or money to do it yet.
Either belt squeals at anything over 6000 rpms.
Another thing is that my installer did not pin my crank.
He said I did not need it running low psi.
My thought is that I should have him pin the crank pulley
and make sure (again) that its on all the way before I
go with the SDCE. PLEASE HELP!

Just sounds like an alignment problem.

Go SDCE, it has been proven to work.

Man you NEED to pin the crank. The squeal is probably the crank pulley spinning.

I would do that immediately

Pin Crank, the belt alignment is off. Fix and enjoy the boost.

SDCE like stated before, if the belt is making noise, its probably and alignment issue. If you are not there checking the work yourself you can be told anything.

Personally I wouldn't trust a tuner who didn't bother pinning the crank on a ProCharger install to verify pulley alignment..

I agree, get it pinned. An eight rib belt should last several years, you have an abnormal problem that needs to be corrected. I would take your car somewhere else. Bob

I am going to have him pin the crank and make sure
its on all the way because I did have trouble with the serp
belt too until I changed the tensioner but I was thinking as it wears
I may start throwing the serp belt too.
I know they are trying their best to fix it & I have had other work done
with them. I honestly believe this is a freak thing.

Oh and I guess there is two ways to pin it.
Which one should I do? Why?

To me it sounds like you might have a problem with the crank pulley, make sure that the bolt isnt coming loose on you, because if you have the ATI supplied blue bolt, it might be a bit too long, mine was and i had to cut it down a bit, https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-induction/551869-problem-supercharger-crank-pulley.html, its talked about in here.

Was looking for belt sizing & I came accross this/my old thread!
It ended up being the spacer was wrong. I guess the 00-02 takes
I slightly smaller spacer. They used the right standoffs but the extra
meat on the spacer made it slightly crooked which caused all my problems.
I am still on the same belt since it has been fixed! New motor though, lol.
I am using a 4.25" Blower pulley and the same 415 belt & am seeing 10lbs
of boost @ 6500 RPM with my Forged 347 9.5CR with 225 Dart Heads & 1-7/8 Headers
using the stock 8 rib setup!

Hey,

Just about to install my kit. Sounds like you got it all aligneded and could save me some headaches. Where exactly is the spacer that you need? On hte standoffs? behind the pulley? Thanks

Having seen 18psi on a d1sc with super over driver crank pulley with no belt slip, i say there is no need to shell out money for another bracket system. The one you have works, and it works well.

It sounds like your crank pulley may be spinning and moving, pin and use a new crank bolt and torque to factory specs.

If this is not the problem, check your air filter and belt alignment. It is easy for some to switch the two stantions on the lower part of the bracket, the one for the automatic and stick, and the upper standoff.

If you are forged and have a solid motor, you should pulley that beast up if all is good, a 3.85 is a good start on the road to boost.

Yes, I am very happy with it now.
There is one spacer that goes on the OE idler pulley that is
supplied with the kit. Just make sure that you have the correct
one for your year & type (M6, A4 is different)
Also measure the standoffs to make sure.
If you use all the right stuff there shoould be no alignment issues.
Good luck & welcome to the boosted world!

I am just getting done breaking in my new engine. (crank is pinned)
I plan too pulley up very soon. (4.10 - 3.80)
Still have not decided how much is enough.
I am really surprised that I am seeing 10psi now.
Do you have a good source for a larger crank pulley?

do yourself a favor and dont keep spending money on pulleys and just get the sdce setup. most of the high boost guys out here have fought the same battles and spent all kinds of money to try and avoid the inevitable. JUST GET THE SDCE SETUP!!! TRUST ME you wont regret it
