getting rid of rasp
Pacesetters are on but the sound isnt that great. Ive got an ory and slp dd setup. Do I get a catted y or put a single cat in somewhere. Do I put a bullet muffler in somewhere before the slp muffler. I know my car will never sound like my buddies cobra with magnaflow catback but to me the car sounds like **** above 2500 rpm. Sometimes I wish I would've just kept the car stock.

Hell son I'd bet you car sounds better than that cobra junk all mustangs sound the same. Plus you have Chevy not a ford these cars will never sound the same, for those of you out there that try.I'd put the cats on unless you just like listening to nothing but exhaust in the car...

For the original poster, I'd say sell your o/r y and get cats. I think you mentioned something in another thread about the fumes as well...a catted y would kill the rasp and fumes.

Yeah, he'll be here. The advocate of all catalytic convertors. I say get over it or buy a different car. You have a good system there that should flow good. Keep it, and just smoke that Cobra junk so he can hear how bad your rasp sounds.
I personally think that my LS1 sounds good:
Hedman Hedders
Pacesetter ORY
Cutout
Magnaflow 12266 muffler
Stock tips
Sounds great with the cutout open or closed ever since doing a little head/cam swap.

Good stuff!
Before he gets here and tells you to put cats on (which will help cover the rasp up), I'll give my opinion......and it is that the y-pipe design is one of the biggest culprits of rasp. A well designed y-merge will tone down rasp. My pacesetters/h-pipe/1 chamber flows don't rasp one bit. If you want to make it easy on yourself, put cats back on. If you wanna spend some time and make it sound good, either find a good ory with a quality merge or *my personal favorite* toss the ory/catback and throw duals on there!!!
