Header Clearence Issues...
Okay, this is a bit old but I figured I would post it on here to get everybodies input on this.
A few years ago I had some Jet Hot LT headers installed on my Camaro. When they were finally installed, they cleared the K-Member literally by about a few millimeters, and when it was cold outside the engine would torque over and a nice tapping would eminate. Of course this always got a few looks so I would usually pump the gas so the engine would resonate and the tapping would stop.
Well, finally, after a few years of doing this I finally got tired of this and I took it to a shop to have it inspected. Now this is maybe a year and a half after the install, and they still tend to tap in cold air on a cold start. However, when he picked up the car it looked like one of the headers were actually in the process of "clearing itself" It was making contact with the K member, and you could see the small notch where the header had dug in.
So my question now is this. Should i attempt to somehow seperated and tighten up the system, regain the gap, and wrap the header? Or should I just not ever screw with it since the header is notching it self out anyway. I don't have to worry about the primary opening up... do I?

If you did poly motor mounts that would fix it as well. When i did my headers i had the same idea you did in that it will work it self enough clearance if i had no notched the k member enough. It would be pretty difficult to split the primary with it only hitting ever so slightly.

What would be installed with poly motor mounts? What benifits would I see with that? Would it be possible to do that without taking the engine out? Im new at this.
