I did bleed it after I saw the leaks, I just went for a ride and noticed that if I shift at 4500 rpms it grinds(2nd & 3rd) ???? But it will go in gear normal if I just shift early? So I am thinking that the slave is not totally pushing it in ? Man I am so sick of these clutch ****

Yes, the shim was installed. It had a Billet Flywheel in the car when I bought it so I had it Resurfaced. But I noticed it had a shim in it already?? I love my car but this **** is driving me crazy

I would just do the updated master and slave.....resurface flywheel only to spec (normally don't recommend that i buy a new one) and take a breather. You'll be glad when it's done right. If you have heavy mods you go through these clutches like water.

I just got done with a spec 2 in my girls car a few months ago

2500 miles and it's slipping due to rear main or whatever plug is behind the pilot bearing. Just ripped it all down and have to put in a new fly, pp, and clutch.

800 bucks and having to take out tranny again = fucked!

But have patience cuz it's all worth it.

if you want an original GM flywheel.. go to Autozone..I got mine there.

Its $189.. BUT.. there is a refundable core charge of 130$.. I didnt know it was going to be a GM flywheel.. when i went to pick it up... GM was stamped on the back of the flywheel.. along with the same GM part#.

Sounds like your flywheel and the shim that was already in there are the ones to blame. SPEC states you can only take .015 off the GM flywheel specs... if its more than that.. you need to get a new one.

Yeah, That's what I think the problem is. I am scared of a Cast Flywheel, my car makes 400+ rwhp and I like my legs attached to my body so I am looking at another Billet.

Was I the only one that noticed the 4500rpm shift's. Wrong way to break it in,will probly see another post a few weeks from now saying Spec sucks because the clutch is slipping

On a side note,Find the leak and replace the part or replace both master/slave and DO NOT BLEED IT.Just plug and play

HAHA, The 4500 thing was just once......I promise, So I dont need to bleed the slave??? Anyway I still think the flywheel must have been turned before, so will just and adjustable MC fix that problem?? or should I replace it?(the flywheel)

My spec 3+ took about 700 miles to start shifting properly. Now it is great though.

Dont romp on it at all even though you get verry tempted. Trust me , WE all know the feeling

Hmm.... How many problems have been proven about not breaking in the clutch causes it to slip? Having a father as a mechanic with his own business for almost 30 years. Having Much drag racing experience along with a couple of 10 sec cars and drag bikes. We have never broken in a clutch and have had problems with them slipping later. Right now I have a McLeod single disk on my car with the mods listed. The first thing I did after installing the clutch was go down the street and romp on it through about 4 gears. I have about 3000 miles on it now and the other day I still got a 4th gear scratch.

Does it chatter?
Does it hold up good for 6k rpm clutch dumps on slicks?
How is the pedal? On/off?

thanks,

I have about 2,000 miles on mine..

I NEVER do 6k clutch dumps (good way to break a 10 bolt, twist a shaft, ect)

on off pedal feel is quick but not like a race clutch where its engaged 1/16" off the floor..

no chatter
