I just bought the Sumitomo HRTZII's and they are pretty damn good for a cheap street tire. I think they are a softer tire and I hook decently with them slowing slipping the clutch and great from a 1st gear roll. I had the Nittos before these and they are great on the street too but idnt hook worth **** at the track. You shoulda put this in the Wheels and Tire forum just FYI.

I've been looking at the Kumho MX, ~ $125 in 275-40-17 from tirerack.com. I looked at the reviews, filtering by "Chevrolet", and vast majority are very positive as far as traction, handling, noise, and performance in the rain.

Be careful getting too much grip if you are going to the track or laying posi strips in front of your friends house, the rear end is the weakest link in that thing.
The Goodyear GPS' (that came on my car when I bought it) suck in the rain. I was sideways trying to merge on the highway, so I have been looking.
I was thinking about getting Z rated tires, but why? I don't think I will be 150+ mph anytime soon and the extra cost just isn't worth it to me.
Do take into consideration that the wider tires will give better corner handling, and a shorter sidewally won't ride as well.

I like BFG KDWS, but I only got 25-30k miles out of them. I have about 10k on my Firestone Firehawk wide ovals and have been real happy so far. I got both kinds mounted, balanced, valve stems etc. out the door after tax for $560 for four.

Im planning on getting the BFG G-Force Sports, 275/40/17 after much research on tirerack. I also didnt want to get to expensive, these are $120 each. However, these are considered Summer tires which is fine for me in Florida. I see you are in Cleveland, I use to live in Akron so I understand you may want to look for something in the All-Season category.

The rear end will only blow if he hooks. Burning out won't hurt it like hooking will.

I wouldn't recommend Nittos. They are pretty much downgraded Toyo tires made for the booming "ricer" audience. They just got so popular they decided to expand into other markets.

The company with the best technology in their tires is BFGoodrich. Their compound is overall lighter and more durable.

I run kuhmo ecsta supras and i love them and mine were around $150 each but I have 285/18/35's which are expensive. I cant see the ecsta supras in 16" being much more than $120. Either way kuhmo makes awesome tires.

You get a quote right there on the page where they list the price. They ship ups, tires will arrive taped together. Never had any problems with them, fast, no hassles... no tax if they don't have a warehouse in your state.
