Run from the police!!!
It's official - if you don't want a traffic ticket in Houston, just floor it!! They now have an official policy to NOT chase people for "minor traffic offienses".
In other words, you can have fifty pounds of cocaine in your car, fail to signal a lange change and you now do not have to worry about getting stopped - just FLOOR it.
You can pile a bunch of severed heads in your back seat, and you NEVER have to worry about getting pulled over - just FLOOR it!
This is an EXCELLENT move that will SURELY help lower the ever increasing crime in the city of Houston.
I swear, the mayor and the chief of police are a pair of the biggest idiots in the state when it comes to crime...

Our Chief took out the same policy, except we can go 10mph over the speedlimit for a felony WTF? All because a local officer had a wreck a while back and killed somebody b/c he flew through an intersection I think.

I never understood why the Police were allowed to chase a suspect over minor violations. Now....if the suspect was thought to be intoxicated, had a hostage or say was driving a tank through the city. That's a judgement call for the CO I guess?
Yet, to go all 5 alarm fire on a guy who's just trying to avoid getting his 3rd strike doesn't make any sense to me. Why risk all these people's lives? Just let him go and pick him up later, if it works out that way.
Again, it has to be a judgement call by the C/O though, obviously in some instances detaining the suspect is the best and only option.

What if the person decided to run because he had someones kidnapped kid in the trunk? You just never know why that person is running, could be he is drunk... could be your kid in the trunk.

i agree, people don't run from a traffic ticket. they usually have warrants or crack.
