Trans won't shift after big tire spin??
OK if I get on the car hard with street tires on it and the RPMs go up FAST due to tire spin, the trans will not shift. Some times it wont shift out of 2nd at all, some times I have to shift it manually, and other time it would not go in to OD. Now if I shut the car off and back on it will shift good again. WTF
It is a stock trans with a Yank SS-4000 stall and a tune I don't race it that much at all, the car has 40000 miles on it and it may see the track once every 3-4 months.
What is the problem??? Is the trans going , I riley don't think so because some times it works great.
And I do have a BIG trans cooler.

May be sliding into "abuse" mode. There is something
like a minute or two timeout for that though, after
which it should release (get normal)? Maybe some
other fault that self-clears and needs two in a row
to set the light. Maybe you should do two or three
(one per key-on) and see what pops up. With a high
stall speed there are some slip / performance codes
that may set and prevent lockup or modify shifting
but I don't remember them other than 1870.
