mondo blow off question

mondo blow off question
i run a vortec mondo blow off or whatever the hell it is on my setup.
i've always had it so the valve seems to be wide open at idle, the force of air coming from the thing at idle will blow your hat off if you stick your face over it and when i'm driving the car my friends say all you can hear while you are driving next to the car is the blow off whoooosing away.
is that how its supposed to be or do i have the thing improper? it was suggested to me that it should be closed at idle, etc to be proper. car only sees 11 PSI with a 3.4 pulley on the blower and SDCE 8 rib, too, thought it should see more, maybe the blow off not being setup right has to do with that? thoughts?

sean.. thought a blow off valves main purpose in life was to open once boost exceeds your current set limit to avoid either over boosting, and blowing off your intake when you let out of it

Its not a blow off valve its a bypass valve.
It should be wide open at idle and should be adjusted almost all the way out so it opens as soon as possible. They make a lot of noise driving around if they are open, you can make a muffler for it or route it back into the inlet if the noise bothers you..

It is supposed to be open at idle. Mine sounds like an air compressor that is leaking air. The Mondo is louder than the Procharger itself. You can also put an air filter on it to quiet it down. Mondo bpv and high stall equals a lot of daily looks. More than I like.

oh yeah, its def louder than the blower, its all you can hear under the hood most of the time. i don't really care, its my friends bitching at me when we're cruising that had me wondering about it lol. for fun i might put a small air filter on it and see if i like it better that way

Mine dumps down directly back into the blower inlet adapter shown in my sig. I still hear it at cruise - a whistling noise, but not nearly as bad as when I had it to the open air. Plus if it's open, you need an air filter because otherwise it's feeding unfiltered air into the motor.
